I recently bought a 2003 blobeye which was owned by a member on here. Yea i sure did lol. Tbh im happy with what ive got coz i was looking at vxr corsas at same price. Would lose more cash tht way. Basicslly paid chesire 2k for sitting on it for a month.

You reckon ?? It is pretty quick as it is. Just wondering what would be the next steps to take if i chose to.

 

From a quick scan it's more like 7.5k in mods but obviously there's time factored on top of that, looks like a nice car

Obvious options are a bigger turbo, injectors, 3" exhaust and remap then just build up from there

I think you should be fine on stock internals up to about 450 with no issues - although reliability is always going to be compromised to some extent with mods.

I remember reading somewhere that Andy Forrest's Scooby is running about 800whp or something crazy like that on stock internals.. Don't hold me to it though

 

Ultimately you will get familiar/bored with what ever power you get so why not get your money's worth and in joy it while you can, you certainly payed a pretty penny .

 

I would drive the car get use to it first,see if there is anything that you think could be better or you would like to improve to optimise your own driving experience i.e better brakes,suspension,handling,power delivery etc....then make up your own mind that's how you modify,you Taylor your car to yourself and your own driving abilities.What might be good for someone else might not be good for you if you get my drift .SJ.

Totally agree, the majority would say bump the power right up but depending on what driving you do you might be better off with handling mods etc. get used to the car first and go from there. Marc

 

Any new car I buy I always make sure I keep about 500 quid spare for the first 6 months of ownership just incase anything goes pete tong

 

Only bad thing bout the car is how thirsty it is. Thinkin bout sending it to Andy Forrest get switchable maps. Really dont know. Im over the moon with my car. Was worried i would regret giving up the glanza. But not at all.

Thts wot i dnt get. Wot are the common emergencies ?? Head gaskets ?? Weak rods ?? Driveshafts ? Gearbox ? I dnt hav a clue bout scoobs tbh. Ive learned more on here in 2 weeks. Don't worry yourself so much the Sti 2.0 litre Subaru is as strong as they come,just enjoy it and like I said before when you get use to the power or you think that something might need improving to iron out the cars behaviour for your own driving style then start to modify don't rush into it until you are ready,as it could all end in tears.SJ.

Fair enough. Im still gettin used to it. So much more grip and power. Got it up on a ramp today changed oil and filter. Fixed the squeaking seatbelt too.

 

Your car does look to be a lovely example,trust me you will know when it's time to upgrade itit sounds like your going about things the right way though as they do love regular oil changes and general pampering.SJ.

 

A car is worth what ever you're willing to pay for it, not what the autotrader says. Its your hard earned money so if you're happy then iam happy for you.

With regards to keeping cash back for emergencies, well thats just good sense, not subaru specific.

As for your original question, give it time, theres going to be a big list of things by the time you've finished reading the SN threads.

If your interested in having duel mapping then it would of helped if you had bought a hawkeye that has a electronic throttle (fly by wire) but the hawk comes with its own problems. I have recently seen that a few people are using ECULAB on classics (not sure about blobs) which has duel maps and a few other toys, could be worth having a look at that.

Ive been looking at aftermarket manifolds seen as i have full turbo back system. Would i lose the burble that it has ?? Would there be any noticeable gains ?? Wot are the best kind ??? Cheers again.
