Yes, and on the way back down from the castle is a nice quite pub.

Wife and I visited that the last time and passed an hour or so in the wee pub over a nice bottle of wine

Try to go to the castle when they're firing the guns though - think my timing last time was just lucky.

Up near the castle is the whisky experience, if you like a drop they do a tasting session with all the different types from different areas of Scotland. Plus it is the only place in the UK where they sell William Lawson's whisky, I always buy a bottle when I'm there

My daughter fell off one of the cannons at the castle and broke her wrist.

Don't climb on the cannons...

The castle, mary kings close, the dungeons, princess st gardens, george st(if you like expensive shops, restaurants).
For a good night out, a wee drink from each pub on the royal mile and the grassmarket will leave you in a fine state
As for a meal, book a table at the witchery, its practically in the castle grounds, expensive but very good.

Don't remember, but it was a lovely pub - nice atmosphere and comfy seats after a long time walking to/from, and around the castle

The pubic triangle will be worth a visit ... not sure the girlfriend will appreciate it though (unless she's open minded)

Yeah Grassmarket is great, some good pubs and eateries. Forget the bus, get a Rickshaw

And try and get on one of the 'Underground' tours. You'll either **** yourself or **** yourself laughing

And if you're a fan of Rebus, pop into the Oxford for a Malt.
