To Dark Blue Mark
You are heading in the complete opposite direction think about what you are saying and why you are using higher octane fuel.
John banks has it right.

You wont harm your engine running "avgas" its only that you will drop a lot in power. You will however stuff up the sensors.
The more octane you use the less power you will get.
I did 44 dyno runs on different fuels and boosters i've said this before so here is the repeat.
STD 95 wrx on 95 octane fuel 100 kw @ the wheels.
Adding 1 ml per litre of NF race an extra 6 kw.
Adding 2 mls an extra 9 kw
Adding 5 mls per litre and extra 7 kw and then changing completely to so called "Avgas" i gained only 1 kw.
Hope this helps you.

John Banks
yes that is correct you will reduce your temp in your engine running NF due to the combustion chamber stabliser.
So the message is the more octane you use the less power you have thats why ive recommened around 2 mls per litre of the NF race gives the best results it seems to be that between 99 and 100 is best.

JME in Perth
Not every one can afford $5.00 to $10.00 per litre and why spend that much money to lose power i would have thought you wanted to gain power !!!!!!

Hmmm,

Thanks for the info Nitro.

I still wouldn't use it if you paid me. Avgas is for aero engines, with materials, combustion liners and coatings to match it. For me there are too many unknowns, and the car is not designed to run on that sort of fuel.

Just my opinion..

Avgas also contains a chemical that stops it vapour locking at altitude I understand this chemical is corrosive and one of the reasons Lycoming engines need a major overhall every 2500 hours or so.

What about a good sensible 1-2ml/L NF though DBM? Does wonders for ignition timing if you are running more boost or a remap.
