Looks like somebody has tried (and failed) to remove it with incorrect tools at somepoint.

Woow,I've never seen this,as you are said someone tried to remove this bit

My bro had kw fitted and 1 shock was leaking. He email kw germany and they asked 2 send both coilovers back and they replace 2 new ones for free

Thanks man, is this the right email address chevronstafford@btconnect.com?

I am in the same boat as you atm I want the 'right' coiovers for me and need to be good on road as thats where it will be mostly. And I am an apprentice XD need to save my pennies for brand new kw type stuff!
