bargain! It's 10.50 down here and that's about average.

I think your figure is a little out, looks like the BOE will be raising interest rates soon

Reported on local radio this morning. Also the nugget about the local economy.

TBH, a BoE interest rate rise would be disaster for most of the country at the moment, and will need to be resisted by the Tories with only one year left before an election.

Nah...it could refer to ANY politician. We need to make up a new word for the likes of Bliar, Brown, Clegg, Cameron etc.

Not for savers. They've had nearly six years of being penalised for being prudent and the rate rises can't come soon enough.

My mum saved all her life, never claimed anything and has seen her meagre standard of living drop through the floor because of low interest rates.

I hope Mark Carney is true to his word, but then, he's a banker....

This new housing boom - and the new debt being taken on - will make an interest rate rise even more painful if it happens. Just as private debt were being paid down the government introduces the HTB scheme to incite a new property bubble.

It's not a growing industry.

There's been drilling in the UK for tens of years onshore and offshore, Fracking is just drilling except at the end of the well water and sand is pumped into the hole at high pressure to frack the well.

It will use the same drill companies the same drilling crews and the same service companies. It's not like offshore where the rigs need maintained by Riggers, Platers, Pipefitters, Stewards blah blah. Once the hole is drilled and fracked a wellhead will be installed (I assume) and the gas will be piped to where it's going. That's it end of, onto the next well we go.

Unless there are hundreds or thousands of wells to be drilled I can't see where these tens of thousands of jobs are coming from.

It's not cheap gas is why, it is expensive to produce.

Some people will just always moan and whine. It's tedious and boring.

I'm just going by the example in the US where 1.7 million direct and indirect jobs have already been created.

Maybe in the oil field as a whole, not directly involved in Fracking I would assume.

Out of those 1.7 million jobs I wonder how many are directly dependant on Fracking, I would put money on it being a small percentage.

All these false employment figures could really mess up my plans this year, especially if it does result in interest rates climbing. Life has been very good these last few years.

I'm going to do my bit for lowering the number of unemployed in the next financial year. I'm thinking of taking on two or three staff.

They can learn English though, I'm not learning Bulgarian.
