FYI, fuel injected cars don't use ANY fuel on over run so why would you press the gas and waste fuel when you don't have to, leave it in 5th and you do pretty much the same speed with your foot off the gas.

If you want to p!ss your money up the wall that's your choice, I chose to spend mine wisely and still have fun with both of my subarus.

P.S. Excuse me I just clocked your username and spelling and now realise i'm dealing with a retard.
you trying to be cleaver - only DIESEL engines don't take any fuel when in gear and off the throttle

Spelling - Apology that I missed one letter while quickly typing - I pretty sure that everyone understood me
Username - appropriate to this website - driving Sti for many years and R35Gtr with no points on my license means something

Retards response.

If you can't take it, don't give it out.

Well, back to the topic

I filled up with Shells vPower Nitro Plus stuff earlier, pulled out of the garage, fuel tank only showing 50% full! However, i was seemingly generating fuel on my way home, as the needle kept going up and up and up. Stopped started the engine a couple of times, nothing. Weird. At just over full now though.

Anyone else had this? Surely it's just a coincidence?

mine takes a while to go to the top, nothing to worry about, they have a system to stop the fuel level being transfered to the gauge while it sloshes about

I find that my 2005 Wrx takes over 5 mins plus to reach thefull level after filling up. The arm in the tank/electronics is very under-sensitive unlike most women

Last tank did 300 miles, and still not low enough for fuel light.

50/50 motorway and town.... Come to think of it after nearly a year of ownership I have never seen the fuel light.....

Must check the hand book to see where it actually is....

Had mine almost six and a half years I get 260 to 280 miles full tank to petrol light running on 99 octane with a mixture of driving over the week the only variant is ambient temps summer to winter about 10 miles extra out of a tank. Mapped at 34,000 now 69,000 gain of 10 miles extra out of a tank after map.

It does come on but you have to get it low (which I try to avoid) and doesn't get you many miles when on. Although with your mpg it might last a while,I can only dream of that mpg although am due a map check at some point soon. Think the most I ever squeezed was around 260miles on a tank but I generally only get about 50-60miles to £20 of shell optimax/vpower/nitro

Now obviously I understand that if you toe it every where then the fuel consumption is going to be bad. This past month I have been driving very carefully to try and save some money and I'm still only getting about 80ish miles to half a tank ? Now I totally get the fact that I have purchased a Sports car and economy and going fast don't mix lol, but when I'm not driving quickly which is the majority of the time I would hope the mpg to be a bit better any suggestions ???
I dont tend to notice getting good mpg whatever driving style I use, fast or slow!

So surely it's ok to use it in my car and higher octane is just a performance bonus. I'm going to start using momentum now as there is a tesco local to me but I'm worried now that I've unknowingly done damage.
Its not just a performance bonus, apparently where it burns better it prevents thing like pre-ignition/detonation and knock.making it safer on engine aswell as run better
