As said the only one that will rocket will be 22b's.
But imo any impreza particularly classic shapes that have low or very low miles, no rust and are as they left the subaru factory will only go up in value, purely because of the cult following they have, being made famous by mcrae,burns etc in the 90's
I looked at a few classics recently before i bought one, RB5, WRX, STI and ended up buying a MY00 turbo 2000 as it had genuine 47k on it and was by far the cleanest car totally un-abused and mint, its those type of cars that will be desirable in years to come.

It will always be the most iconic Subaru model everybody has always associated it with rally models and colin mcrae.,no matter what Subaru models come out in the future the 22b will be the most diserable and sought after .its an iconic car and icons hardly ever fade away.

After about 15 minutes of chatting there were about 30 people round the car. I think that says it all!

Yeah they certainly draw the crowds I've seen many over the years and could just stand and look at them all day long ,they are stunning from every angle and just look superb on the road .they will never be repeated and will continue to rise in value the standard ones of course .

I can remember evo mag's road test of the 22B, at the time. And drooling like a t**t.
I was really excited, as it was as close to the rally car (lookswise) as the Integrale Evo was to its counterpart.
...Were the 200 22B road cars existence because of the homologation rules for the new WRC regs of 1997? Or was the 22B nothing to do with it, in that respect? Can't remember. (I know the bodykit's silhouette isn't exactly the same as the WRC car's -- wing, rear bumper, side skirts).
Or was the 22B project simply just a well conceived, brilliant marketing exercise, based on the styling of the WRC car?

All my opinion, aside the 22B point because we know that sums up the essence of Subaru's image when they were major players on the rallying front. "Here you go public, have a road-going iteration of our WRC car".
Any of the models with strong performance, particularly limited editions will command a premium in the years to come.
In my view the cars with the wow factor will command silly prices.
22Bs will continue to become more desirable.
The P1 and RB320 stand out to me as good investments but if you are buying them as investments it would not be a good idea to run them as dailies but more weekend cars.
I would like to think the Cosworth will become a future classic, it is certainly something we were lucky to get but it was released at a time when Subarus had become a little uncool again. A few were snapped up by collectors in Japan and Europe so it did have some appeal. And they eventually did all sell...
Ultimately if you buy a car and look after it then it'll always be worth a bit more if it's a well kept example of a rare car. This is a chance with many of the Subarus as so many of them are being badly modified, falling into the wrong hands or being broken.

P1 will always be worth than a type r as it's a limited run and has individual build numbers.

Interesting thread indeed, i'm on the hunt for an investment, we have looked at alsorts, mini's Sunbeam Alpine, mk2 escorts etc. I still think a P1 would be a good bet and probably at the bottom of their value right now?

As i said before, the true 'classic' will be the 22B
However, certain models are only increasing in price, but won't ever be worth the same as a 22B.
Type R's are increasing quite a bit (whereas P1 are still coming down if that says something)
