How many of you actually 'allow' your other half to drive your Subaru?

So, a significant proportion of female subaru drivers have to be either single or in a same sex relationship as there's almost no chance that male partner will let his female partner behind the wheel of his pride and joy.

 

'Allow' I've owned two Imprezas, no one had to 'allow' me to drive my own car, thanks. I believe we can vote now too...

 

but what's your excuse for driving Clio that falls into the same category as two polar opposites' choice, hm? Either you're an OAP, a broke teenager, or just confused?

I drive a VW Passat 2L TDI; a very uncool estate one. It's no heap, I paid 12 grand for it even in 2010. I bought it after ample research, as I wanted comfort, biggest boot, luxury, stability, fuel economy, less maintenance etc. etc.- all in one. However, I'm aware that nearly all taxi drivers this end drive Passat saloon diesel and Audi saloon.

I recently faced stereotyping for it. My kid had texted me at 4am to pick her up from a house party, so I jumped into my car in my pajamas and dressing gown. When I got there, my kid wouldn't respond her phone from noisy house. I was freezing, so I got out and banged hard on the door, but then ran back to get inside the car to save embarrassment for all. A kid came out, and leaned his head to ask- "Is it the taxi for Seb, Rory and Natasha?". I was very offended. I said- "NO! It's a taxi for my kid who's partying with you guys inside. Tell her to get out in two mins or I'll join you all in my uncool pajamas!" My threat worked, and Junior was out in two mins. I also had to give lift to those three little rascals back to their homes as well, because my kid begged me, and their taxi had let them down.

It still hurts that my car got taken for a taxi.


Same here. I only had one for ten years, but it was 'mine', not his. I never had to 'allow' him, but he admits that he drives hard, so he himself stayed away from mine, because he knew he'd wreck it. He could freely wreck his own cars without any hassle, you see.

 

Typical golfer. Hope he doesn't dress up like one.

 

Mine owned Evo's so he wasn't fussed about driving my Imprezas when he had something faster anyway
I had lots of comments though from people who thought I was borrowing 'his' car when I was in mine and it really pissed off a lot of blokes to be overtaken by a woman.

 

I can imagine, Lydia. Backward people they are, to think like that.
