I remember one of Guy's early quotes from the TT: "Ian Lougher came past so fast he was sucking rabbits out of the hedges". That was a good few years back, but it was clear he was a real personaility even then.
Sadly, he's become this TT generation's Jason Griffiths, in that he's hugely talented but happens to be racing the likes of John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop and Ian Hutchinson who are just that bit faster. Jason had Steve Hislop, Joey, Foggy, Phil McCallen and DJ to contend with, and never quite made the top step at The Grandstand.
It would be wonderful for him to win a TT, but I've a feeling that may remain one of his few unfulfilled ambitions. Anyhow, he's become more famous than any of his competitors outside road racing, and I'm sure a long TV career will follow. A great chap.

And I doubt there's a better one on the way, or Josh Brookes wouldn't have left the BSB team
He cracked me up on the first episode, when he goes to Laura Trott, "...Your **** was pulling me along."
What was funny, was that they left "****" out on Sky's subtitles lol.

Agree a very well made show and Martin is very likeable on screen as he was on How Britain Worked. I would love him to win at least one TT, I think he needs to get on a Fireblade though
Surprising how the motorcross bike started after swallowing all that lake water!

I'm watching it in Ch4 right now, only because he's trying to hydroplane our North Wales Bala Lake. First attempt was sh1te. His second attempt was the longest hydroplane run he has ever done. Why do this sort of stuff, I do not know. I think he just has a need- a need for speed in an extremely risky way. Crazy.

Yes he was. He came over the line first but was disqualified iirc and the next day I think he came third in one of the races and didn't show up for the podium (either that, or he did but he looked extremely pi55ed off when he was standing there - can't remember which). He's been chasing a TT win for years and as a privateer he has a lot of support from the 'ordinary man'

Eh? Has it had a change of engine or something?
Looks like a volvo engine to me.
I think he's a decent bloke to be honest. Don't get why some people slate him, would love to see them on TV doing their piece to camera.
His pad looked interesting, was that a 2 stroke Bimota? Also spotted a flash looking frame in the other room, harris?
