Should have some definite answers soon, as to what spring rates you were running.
For a daily driver maybe yes, but I preferred the hard springs to the blue eibach springs as the car felt planted!
I actually bought the car from a guy up in Scotland who had an m5 and used the scoob for track days, it was obviously set up very well as it had everything sorted, anti lift front strut brace and importantly a geometry alignment. Probably the best car I have driven to date and I've owned a few now!

Fun factor was mega high, I should never of sold that car:-( Also it went v very well for only a prodrive ecu'd classic, lost very little ground to a friends 311bho classic??

I definatly could of lived with the suspension but I had to back off on known corners and also straight line compressions actually winded me a few times!

Interesting stuff and I can concurr that the Grey spring I tried on the rear was siffer then the blue, and on one corner I did experience mid-bend kick-back. But I put this down to my 24mm ARB rather then the spring.

I am not sure how the Blue and STi Pink would fair on the same corner, as I am not sure I would want to give it the same level of attack......it was a bit of an eye widening & sphincter closing experience.

hi guys iv just read this entire thread as i have the WR silver bilstein dampers with blue springs on my rb5 and they have been on since new in 1999 ... down side is that i have just removed them to clean and repaint to find that half a coil fell out so i am looking for preferebly a blue front spring to match the rest, or a set which is obviously like finding Hens teeth. Just to add my 2 pence worth i always found the new tyres used to upset the rear handling with these and in the WRSport brochure it mentions the handling pack with antiroll bar aswell

We should soon have the ability to get these re-manufactured, or items very close to this specifciation. It would be useful if we could get your broken spring profiled (or even the good spring from the other side) to ensure the closest match if that's what your after.

We have a source that can test then re-manufacture to the same specification.
Do you know if the shocks have the same part numbers as those shown above.

A few pics to show the coil spacing when fitted/on-ground and settled.

22B UK (We assume these are a P1 Spec Spring, as standard JDM 22B ones are Grey)

Anyway part number on the blue front springs are eibach 2040055040 49/97
Bilstein Sti Prodrive front dampers LH/RH 2030055120 7304261M000

I dont think the shocks are repairable, but im keen to fit the springs with a matching pair of rears. If the springs are going to lower the car by a noticeable amount.

Hi gang..

this is an issue I'm currently looking to reslove for my STi v3.

I'm looking for the sti pink springs as I think they'll be closest to the OEM "sti" springs, but cant seem to locate a set of four anywhere... where do you guys source these from?

any help would be appreciated

regards

Mikey

... just remembered, am also looking for a set of dampers, so if there are any folk out there that know of any classic fitment STI spec damper suppliers I'd be very grateful - i'd even stretch to offering a cuppa

The rates of the STI lowered pinks are very similar to what you require, although the rears are too soft and too low, for UK roads.
We are looking at producing a sample of this spring.
As far as new dampers are concerned KYB agx's or koni inserts, would work.
KYB excel-g are also avaiable, but would have to use a lower rated spring. We are, however, investigating a lowered spring set for that damper.

You might want to check those bilsteins again. Or you've got 2 fronts of the same side. One should be 2030055130.

A rear spring set, to match your fronts, is on the sample list.

The rears above look like new age due to the tapered top coil (bottom coil in 2nd picture)

So they are.
On my phone the right hand ones looked like ground ended fronts.

That blue classic spring on the right, is becoming very interesting. It uses a partly flat section to the top coil, giving a nice level, stable top mount - just like the sti tarmac springs. Be interesting as to extra cost of that finish.
Also, the rating is higher, and coil structure is different, to the typical wr blue front 2040055040 - a linear version of that right hand blue, at the correct height, might be interesting.

Classic Bump stops Bumpstops

Been investigating bump stops (micro-cellular jounce bumpers!) for lowered springs.
Obviously you can cut down existing stops.
But what about something new.

There's:

2 x Kyb SB103 front 44mm stop with boot - listed as stock height? - can't be cut down
2 x Kyb SB102 rear 96mm stop with boot - stock height - can't be cut down

But what about urethane:
Front Powerflex BS001 33mm tall. Fits inside Subaru dust boot, if smaller end of stop is at the top.
Front Powerflex BS005 48mm tall. Fits inside Subaru dust boot, if smaller end of stop is at the top.
Front Powerflex BS006 54mm tall. Fits inside Subaru dust boot, if smaller end of stop is at the top. Could use new Febi 1367 or Meyle 1004130000 dust boots.
Rear Powerflex BS2001K 85mm tall - comes with dust boots. But, fits better inside Subaru dust boot, if smaller end of stop is at the top.

Anyone ever bought new oem?

[IMG][/IMG]

If anyones got any other solutions, I like to know about them
