He underwent a second operation last night to evacuate a second haematoma on the left side of the brain and further reduce the swelling of the brain as surprisngly (the doctor's words) he was in a condition where this could be done safely late afternoon/early evening!
The doctors sound a little more positive today! They are saying there is a definite improvement on yesterday, but they cannot say he is out of danger yet! Still taking it hour to hour!
Fingers crossed!

Come schumi. 20 qualifying laps please!
Thanks for the updates Chris. I really can't concentrate at the moment. Fingers crossed that the improvements, however slight, continue to develop. After losing my old man this year and the love that we both had for schumi, I really hope this isn't a terrible end to an already ****e year.

Seb Vettel posted some great pics and comments on Twitter!
I know what you mean Chris and I am just hoping and praying for him. I never mentioned it all those silly times we sparred on the F1 threads but I have met him several times! He really is a genuine and great person and I have a feeling he had more to give later in life, I just hope he will be here and able to.
Though I haven't met him personally I have been lucky enough have around him a few times to see how he is behind the persona that the press depicted. He seemed as you say a genuinely nice guy especially with kids where he had time to talk and sign things for them.
I was very lucky to meet most of the current F1 drivers last year all of whom seemed a good bunch apart from Raikkonen who was just plainly an ignorant, rude man.
Chris, must have been good to meet him

I tell you what it is with Kimi and I am not making excuses, but he is incredibly shy and he doesn't do well with the media and people he doesn't know.... it seems like ignorance and rudeness and it is, but not through arrogance! He is definitely a different breed to many of them, his muted celebrations even when he won the WC in 2007 show that! He really does not like the attention, but he loves racing!
I agree he doesn't like the attention. I stood next to him in the Subaru paddock on Monte rally for about 5 mins without even realising he was there he was so unassuming.
I just didn't like the attitude he had towards my girls last year, he was I would say, most unprofessional and could certainly learn a few lessons regarding approachability from the likes of Hamilton, Alonso, Massa and especially Martin Brundle.

I've met Kimi a ton of times, always talked to me like I was a piece of ****. Out of the F1 drivers that I have met Vettel is my favourite, I sat having a coffee with him shooting the breeze, no idea who he was at the time, he was lovely to hang out with chatty, interesting and interested.
Fingers crossed for Shumacher, he seems like a nice chap too.

I would very much have liked to meet Schumi. Although it's not yet beyond the realms of possibility, I think my chances are far from promising now that he has stopped racing.
I hope he pulls this one out of the fire.

Any statements that they release like the one today which contains the words "condition improves" is great news, its going to be a long, slow process but he's in the best possible hands right now.
Read somewhere that despite countless warnings he decided to go 'off-piste' ?
What's worse is he took his 14 year old son with him, also placing him in direct danger.
Not sure how accurate this is but it begs the question ..... why take a risk like this, especially with your young 'un in tow?!

Do you where a helmet in these circumstances, I don't know?
I know I didn't when I was doing it, or snowboarding, but then my efforts wernt half as adventurous I'm sure

Part of the thrill of adventure sports is the risk, he was at least risk aware as he wore a helmet but there's nothing wrong with exposure to risk.
Without measured exposure to risk we'd simply implode:
Moving is risky, I might fall.
Staying still is risky, I could develop heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Eating is risky, I might choke or get food poisoning.
Not eating is risky, I might starve.
No one should be criticised for taking risks and equally it's a good parent that introduces risk to their children. How else are they to learn?

Why would you need to ban it most serious off pistes where a helmet and a back protector, kids with helmets dont need ski passes here in sweden and most adults where them to protect them selves from the tourists who think they are born to ski lol, as for schuu never really liked him but really hope that he recovers from this.
I'm no adrenaline junkie, but adrenaline is the best form of natural high. After being an f1 driver it must be hard to reach the same levels of excitement. It's good to do something that scares you just a little, it keeps you feeling alive.
Schumacher was wearing a helmet and according to his medical team he would not be alive now had he not been.
Many many people do off piste skiing, this was a bit of a freak accident, let's not get all moralistic about it, the man is fighting for his life! After over 30 years in competitive Motorsport I think he can be forgiven for thinking that a bit of skiing would be relatively safe!

...I think it was Rod Hull who fell off a ladder whilst adjusting his aerial to watch a football match...
He was hardly 'off piste ' skiing. Just a bit of unpisted snow between 2 runs.
Most skiing accidents are on piste. Off piste tends to attract more advance skiers. Biggest risk to them is avalanche.

Latest I read was that he was trying to help a friend that run into difficulty. Wouldn't surprise me. I think we all need to be patient with the outcome for the moment. It isn't going to be a quick fix.
I know it's not the same but it always amazed me how when in 1999, Michael returned from breaking his leg and stuck his Ferrari on pole position, 1 second clear of everyone else at the sepang circuit, which was a brand new track for that year.
Simply amazing. That and the 1998 Hungarian GP sums up everything about Schumacher.

The media really is full of parasites, who have neither respect for individuals privacy or their dignity.
It's a shame they were not identified and exposed.
Good news is that Schumacher is being described as being in a stable condition, although still in ICU.

I'm not Michaels biggest fan, but I have an unlimited amount of respect for his ability and his amazing achievements.
He has lived life in the fast lane, I am hoping and praying that he pulls through and makes a full recovery. He has a loving family and I'm sure all the humans on this forum are thinking of him.
