The Koni inserts are a higher quality damper and infinitely adjustable. They would be an improvement with the P11L and the WR15R/T.

Just seen your edit:
The P1 springs were rated, on a US site as 215/195. Therefore, thought to be outside the range of the excel-g and gr2(silver excel-g).
Thanks I didn't realise the excel g were different to OEM spec, based on that I just need to decide now whether to go excel G or Konis for a bit more flexibility.

I have a quick question concerning the WR15 R/T springs.

I recently acquired a set of late bilsteins and a set of the original p1 springs. Would there be any benefit getting the WR15 R/T springs if i already have the p1 springs? I heard that the p1 springs are a bit overdamped in the rears when using the late bilsteins and was wondering if the WR15 R/T springs would be a better match.

Thanks,

Hi 2pot

When you say the excel g is 15% uprated from the standard twin tube, you mean the stock strut of the classic impreza? I was going to get the agx but now you cleared my confusion and will get the excel g instead.

Is the excel g still %15 stiffer than a stock version 4 sti NON type R/RA?

Hi

Yes; 15% uprated, from the stock, twin-tube, classic Impreza strut.

I've wondered if the excel-g/gr2, is a copy of the v4 STI valving?

The v4 sti springs are, supposedly, 196/174. But who knows? Given how far out, the true measurements of the P1's, proved to be, from internet assertions.

Hello fellow subaru enthusiasts
big respect to 2pot and Scott.t for making this happen
ill take a set of p11 L thanks.
will the p11 L need to use the rubber insulator tubing stuff on the bottom coils?
also just out of interest whats the benefits of the ground top coil on the wr15 R/T.

twistybits,
you should have the red kyb inverted ones
but they might not be so red now depending on how many winters they have seen

As 4camturbo rightly says, they are kyb inverted on the P1.

You may want to consider changing the internal inverted damper bump stops, while your at it?

Protective sheathing - Yes.
Unless the distance between the top and bottom spring perches is reduced (custom strut), there's no alternative, to a coil-on-coil variable rate spring design, at the specified rates. Otherwise, the spring could become unseated at full droop.

In the case of the P11L and WR15R/T, the rate change from the low rate coil-on-coil section is above the specified ride height. This ensures the inactive coils are stacked together, at least 20mm above the ride height. This results in a minimal rate change from the specified ride height, until the rate curve of the bump stop, interacts with the rate curve of the spring.

Ground, closed top coils on the WR15R/T allow an even distribution of pressure across the spring. Ground, closed coils also mitigate against coil bind, should that be necessary for the design constraints.

HTH

Should be with us and fitted just in time for the summer! Are the bumpstop/covers all ready to go?

Just had a PM.
To make it clear: the P11L and WR15R/T, front and rear, are intentionally linear, from 20mm above their ride height, to coil bind - their spring rate stays the same, regardless of compression, in that window of operation.

So, its only mildly disappointing.
