Classic Bump stops
As you may know, after some considerable time and effort, they're are some newly designed classic springs on their way.
I've mentioned bumpstops, in the group buy thread for the new springs, but probably neater to discuss bumpstops separately:
What bumpstops, for twin-tube dampers?
1. Would people prefer the bumpstops hidden inside the strut boots?
2. Or the bumpstop on show, with the strut boot attaching to the bumpstop, so you can easily check degradation?
3. Whichever bumpstop combination gives a neutral balance starting point? Probably necessitating/allowing a smaller diameter/or softer setting on the rear sta bar - for increased rear suspension independence: better traction and comfort.

And whether the 'pitch control' issue applies equally to the classic Impreza.
With his permission:
"Yes the pitch control applies to the classic Impreza also. The revised bump stops fitted to the P1 KYB inverted mono-tubes will help to reduce the understeer tendency, especially in lower grip conditions. They'll also provide a more balanced ride as a P1 suffers with the 'bobbing' that the later STi models do. I'd also expect the P1 to feel more composed on a rough road."

2pot, a few comment
It is good to have an idea of the free lenght I think
and also the best is to have the charts of :
- Stiffness (daN/mm) vs displacement (mm)
- Force (daN) vs displacement (mm)
With standard bump stop the tuning consists in gap (when car on the ground) before hitting the bumpstop, so it can be cut (as you wrote somewhere) if not enough gap, or you can add packers to reduce gap
Not expensive for the parts for long process...
For twin tube strut you can mesure the gap 'directly' but for inverted
If you are still interested, I can provide you some xl chart datas for bumpstop
