Deficit: Brown ran a SURPLUS for 4 years – the only Chancellor in 20 years to manage this. When he ran a deficit it was less than Lamont or Clarke on average ‘til the crash. The bank bail out (£60Bn) in 2008 and a massive Keynesian-style jump in spending to create 0.5 million public sector jobs kept unemployment low and staved off a 1920s style catastrophe that would have wrecked the country (prefer the Greek approach, anyone?). The Tories and your right wing media have used this deliberate overspend to smear him ever since. Time will tell.

Borrowing: Labour 37.5 to 43% of GBP. Con-Lab: 43.5% to 90% of GDP. Hello?

I don't have a great deal of interest in politics in general in all honesty, I don't believe any of the parties really represent me and although I always vote I don't believe I (or we the people if you prefer), have the ability to influence change at that level...so it's not my right (or left), wing media because I have no loyalty either way.

I just think it's ironic and a little blinkered when anyone demonises one party and puts another on a pedestal...they all make mistakes and blame their predecessors when the going gets tough, and earn a reasonable wage whilst doing so.

 

This sort of proves what i have been saying all along. Labour are never as wasteful as people think, and the Tories are never as austere, as people think. Its just small margins in the centre ground.
