My dad convinced my Mum that various 2+2 Porsches and uR Quattros were fine for a family (I clearly remember sleeping in the back of a 928 aged about 8!); at least this has proper back seats and a boot! Don't forget we have a rather large camper too for load lugging, etc.

Anyway it's probably a bit mad but hey ho,it should be fun.
I've sent THE email asking to place the order so I'm part way there.

Not been this excited since Christmas Eve as a kid!

Its not just about the money with cars though John, is it?

Otherwise we'd all be driving 10 year old Hondas or Toyotas. Personally I think Matt's made a great choice here. And remember he's got a VW bus to ferry the family/boat/board about. Seems daft having two totally practially vehicles.

Matt, don't feel you have to justify it. Just do it because you want to. Thats good enough reason for me

Cheers DD! I am also a little surprised that Mr Petrol Head JB thinks I should keep a diesel estate!

Anyway, just put the deposit down - grey, red leather (a bit unusual…!), business nav, BMW loudspeaker system (mid range), heated seats, comfort pack (cruise and parking sensors), black panel display (some funky dashboard thing) and I think that's about it.

Cheers all! I've bought a few new cars/a van before but they've always been stock vehicles. Rather exciting actually ordering one although the wait will kill me!

Good choice; I wanted to buy one of these 12 months ago, but the wife insisted on something boring instead!

Can get one on lease for £1500 down and £251 for 2 years all inc VAT. Base spec but who cares at that price!

Nice choice. I do like the sleeper appeal of the 135i. Other than the twin tail pipes its uber stealth. Surprised how many I have seen on the road already.

Not bad to be able to abuse it for 2yrs and just hand it back. Would want that 8spd auto box though.

Special offer £150 per month discount. If I did more driving i'd be all over this. I can forgive the looks for the performance

So a lease of a boggo M135i is 6+23 x £252 per month at a cost of £7,308 plus a couple of hundred for admin etc

Theres a 62 plate at my local dealers - 5,000 on the clock with a bit of kit, not to much though. Web price is 26.5k and the cost over 2 years on BMW finance with a £1,500 deposit is £667pm!!! With the admin fee you pay over 17k in 2 years.

Plus no RFL with a lease, no MOT's and if you manage under 20k in the 2 years, probably only 1 service and still on the original tyres and brakes

The lease on one of these is a no brainer if you are looking to get into one

Funny the insurance for me is also less than the 182. Madness.

I've nearly talked myself into one ha ha

Well ours has now been built; still due to us on week 2!

Insurance is over £100 less than our seven year old 335d worth about 11p. Eh?!!!

Appears to be a fantastic autobox, preferable to dual clutch.

That looks well tasty!

Does this car have run flats or normal tyres?

Non RFTs (Michelin Pilot Super Sports) but you can spec RFTs as a no cost option. The only 1 series without RFTs!

RFTs are the devil's spawn, I don't understand how BMW gets away with them. They exclude them from all their best cars ie M3, M5, 135M etc but still insist that they don't give compromised ride/handling

We had them on the 335d - to be fair they have improved a bit (we tested an M135i with them on) but they're still pants compared to decent rubber.

We got rid of the RFTs on the 335d as soon as we could - well before they'd worn out. They were absolutely diabolical!

I am sure you are excited but , its really not an attractive looking car is it?
Maybe just my opinion but I just cannot see any beauty in it at all.
Sorry to p*ss on your chips !!
