They really aren't that bad if you do the research...well worth joining cliosport.net just for the buyers guide...£16 iirc

There not too bad tbf, just silly stuff (French builders) throwing lights on dash due to silly cossosive plugs etc, just like any French car. Not that bad to diagnose if your a dab hand with cars.
Buy one cheap enough and fix up yourself like I did. (£500) .
Only issues I've had with mine is battery, dash light-replaced brake pedal switch and that's the only faults so far.
The rest was modding and generally fixing the mot failure bits when I bought it which were, rear light cluster broken, cracked windscreen, bald tyres and rear handbrake cable.
Generally easy to work on unless your replacing fecking headlight bulbs (bumper off job) and stupid stuff like that.

In all for what I paid its worth it and keeps me tinkering.

Had no reliability issues with the 3 renaultsport clios I've owned.

Yes Trails the drivers seat is pretty low. I'm 6'5 so it was never low enough for me. I have cut out the original seat rail and welded in new ones. Much better
Need to modify the passenger one still as it's far too high

I must admit, I was the same....had French cars in the past and swore I'd never buy one again. But so far so good.
Best bang for buck in terms of fun and cost. When your done just throw away or break for parts.

Got the 172 cheap and thought its pointless having 2 toys so decided 1 had to go, the 5 was fully done bar a turbo conversion and the cost for a turbo conversion didn't make sense as I wanted the best parts which would of cost £2k+ so broke it for parts which netted more than the cars worth (still have a few bits left too) and concentrated on the 172 which keeps me tinkering as that's the fun in it to keep me busy.
I use the 172 to go to work etc and generally thrash around which I couldn't do with the 5 as it wasn't as practical enough although I do miss the 5.

Was going to strip/sell mine but thinking of keeping it now, to many messers want something for nothing.....!

My son turns 17 next year so will be a nice introduction to track days for him.

Yeah I seen it, too many messers/scammers/time wasters for my liking, learned by my mistake.

Sell the parts that you won't need as much to recoup some money back = cheaper toy without too much money tied up.

Or use it as a dd and thrash it around and have some fun

I had some joker on CS wanting parts which I had totaled at £1700 he asked if I would do him a deal at £1200...! WTF! lol

TBH, I'm not fussed with about selling/stripping, it will just sit there undercover like it has for the last few months until I can find the time to use it.

Lol know the feeling, I had some joker too on Mazda forum wanting my shell with a few pannels and bits and did him a nice discount but didn't get back to me, then I later offered the shell for free as I needed to get rid as I had no storage but time wasting again, then he put a thread wanting a shell wtf, he could had mine for free!
But the rest of the parts sold really well and I've so far netted just over £4k and I still have the 6spped box along with a couple of other parts.

Considering I only paid £2.5k, free motoring and £1.5k profit so far and got about £500 worth of parts left.

It's really shocking but I got £400 for cage, £400 for manifold (maxim works), £300 for diff just to name a few.

And my latest, a ph1 172, I did 35k in this in 17months, and is on 165k!

Cool, that's a shame as I like the 15s and very light at 5.2kg and TD pro race 2s are 6.4kg but I'm in the middle with 5.9kg.
Looking out for another set of light 15s.

What do the ph1 172 wheels weigh? If you know
