Any RS Clio owners in the house?
Yes, I know they are French, suffer from electrial problems and are made from recycled bake bean cans but they make a cracking little running around or cheap track car like mine.
I was wondering how many Impreza owners either have one or have owned one.....let's see them..:thumb: |
Yeah I have my phase 1. Probably the best car I have owned for the price.

Pics Tony?

Had a 172 cup since new that is now my track whip. Getting its new engine spec in over the winter that should see 350bhp. Very good cars on track.

I have been thinking about getting a 197 for purely track fun :)

Heres my track toy....It doesn't have 2000bhp but its still a fun little tin can.

For cheap track thrills £ for £, a Clio 172 will sh1t all over an Impreza all day long. Cheaper on fuel, tyres and parts and I have totally whipped some sub 300hp imprezas on track with my 172 cup even before it was boosted.
Love my P1 but wouldn't use it on track as it would cost too much to track prep and run it on track for me. |
Where's your slam pannel gone jay?
Scoobyp1- you running LSD on that? Or going to on next build? As I wouldn't want that much without one. But very nice and impressive. Agree, ok daily and capable car for the money. |

Yeah £1500 with all the track toys you need too
Was thinking of buying it just to break as would get more than that in parts! But I'm put off by some of the muppets on there. |

LSD will be going on this build. Not on yet but will be soon. :thumb:
P.s a gt2560r would be just a good IMO with less lag, you'll only make power on top end of the 28 which wouldn't make it as much of a better drivers car compared to the 25. All my opinion though. |

It's on my wish list but cheers for the recommendation.
Still got a lot of other things to buy first. The list is endless unfortunately. |
Some lovely cars above, very nice.
I used to have an RS200 Cup and covered around 17,000 miles in nearly two years in her. It was my daily driver and I bought it as a replacement for my Spec D STi that I had grown tired of. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2865/1...1afc79_z_d.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7405/1...c1dbe3_z_d.jpg I had a few problems with the car that led me to part with her but I do miss having one sometimes. The best thing for me was the ability to absolutely thrash the tits off one of these things without getting to warp speed. Gun an Impreza STi of any era and you're into three figures very quickly. The grip and balance was excellent and the steering an absolute delight. However I did have too many criticisms for me to side with the hype that surrounds these cars. My biggest gripe was the poke. To unlock anything like the claimed figures you have to rev the tits off one of these things, but I was always waiting for the Honda Type-R style shove which never came. To overtake at 40mph you have to drop into second which is daft because you then have to change up again as you're overtaking! No torque at all! This of course makes a Clio prey to diesels on A roads and Motorways, and not just BMs/Audis/Mercs I'm talking Vectras/Passats/Mondeos! A Golf GTDi would absolutely smash a Clio RS on a sweeping road IMHO. I found the fuel consumption a bit rubbish, typically averaging high 20s. Not a major gripe but I expected better. Tyres seemed to wear disproportionately quickly to any other car I've ever driven and I think the brake pads were made from chocolate or something. Wow they wore fast! The trim rattled unacceptably, despite the fact there seemed little there to go wrong. I ended up removing the glove box because it rattled no matter what I did to it! The gearbox was okay - not as slick as I'd say it is in a Focus ST or STi - but the Kangaroo hop in first was awful. It seemed to come on randomly and there was no predicting when it would strike. Either pulling away slowly and gently or gunning it hard from the lights it would occasionally chug chug chug. What a cockup that was Renault! The aircon failed. Occasionally warning lights came on and went off again. The thermostat failed leaving the engine not quite warmed up but it never warned me there was a problem there! Maybe one day I'll see a low mileage 200 Cup going for a couple of grand and I'll go there again. But I don't think I will unfortunately. |
ive got a clio 172 ph2 as daily driver cost me £350 atm with the lil mods ive done.
love it to bits, well worth the money, and the engine has taken everything ive thrown at it. inlcuding being flooded with water and a sticky throttle for 20-30secs..where it sat on the limiter lol got no history or anything but its clean and driver door is slitely off colour, but doesnt bother me run it to the ground. such a fun car when you want it to be..suprising sounds a lot like a honda with an Air Filter. Onli pics ive got of it. as i dont really take pics of it. but any of you on cliosport will remmeber them lol, the exhaust that caused a big outcry on there lol me and big fuds k1 http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps65457102.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps6c3b91d0.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps48b9a411.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps12c8d490.jpg |
