Fecking credit scores!
Is it not f**king obvious
Oh FFS, you clearly have no idea whta you are talking about so I would shut up if I were you

I registered for the free credit score and I did enter my CVV as required, no payment has been taken and given that the identity check has now been completed surely the 'transaction' is now complete and the CVV is now 'spent' and can't be used again - just the same as any other transaction?

I was curious too..
In the last ten years i have had no kind of credit or finance at all.... I dont even have a credit card and my mortgage has been paid off.... I also have no debt, and never have.
But we are thinking of moving and a mortgage would be needed so i wondering what my status would be like ?

If you don't like that site us Experian or Equifax, they are massive companies used by the banks etc.
You get a free months subscription. You do need to give your cc/bc details, but they will only charge you after the first month if you forget to cancel.
I've got the Equifax one running - think its about £5 a month. (Or quarter, can't remember)
Very handy to get email alerts as soon as someone checks your profile.
Goes a bit mad after I've done the 4 times a year car insurance search!
At least if someone tries to take finance out in my name, or details are wrong, I can act straight away.

My credit score was 3/5?
Can't say it bothers me, I only have a credit card for collecting avois points and pay off all purchases before incurring any charges, and my only loan is my mortgage which is now less than 30% of the property value, I was just intrigued as over the last 10 years or so I've tried very hard to avoid credit of any type.

Mine is excellent, as I have 5 years evidence of paying a mortgage on time and 5 years of paying significant credit card balances on time and paying them off effectively.
Having spare credit capacity (i.e. credit card balances some way off their limit) also helps. If I wanted, I could spend up to £18k on my credit cards, but the balance at the moment is only £4k (car payment). I have proven over the years that I can resist temptation to max out and the money lenders like this.
Ironically, saving up for things and paying cash gives you a poor rating. Not saying its right, but there it is.
Yours is low for the exact reason that you avoid taking on credit, so don't have much history.
Your rating will be pretty bad because you will have no credit history at all.

Yes that's the funny thing. My wife's score is lower than mine because she has never had a credit card. Particularly ironic as I'm far more likely than her to be financially irresponsible
Can't believe this. Went in to my bank to raise a mortgage, when they did the credit score I'm frickin rejected due to previous bad credit rating. Never missed a payment on anything in my life, been with my bank for over twenty years, preferred client with a private banker blah blah blah
Mortgage adviser can't tell me anymore than that and tells me to check my credit scores and she will appeal.
I check with Experian and Equifax. Both return high scores so I ring Experian and they say there was a default of £120 last year. The person who defaulted has my name but a different date of birth. So why is it on my report??
There are also a load of linked addresses in the Midlands that I have no association with.
However it turns out my bank didn't use Experian they used Equifax and so I phone them up. They say they can't see anything wrong with my report. When I look at the detailed report I have a 'financial associate' that I have never heard of!
I have no idea wtf is going on
