On benefits and proud
No need for the roll eyes really. When you are affected by shoplifters directly, it's not so funny is all I feel. However, you are right, the part of the programme with her was a bit light relief.
I have known a few owners of smaller shops, one friend made her own childrenswear, she worked hard, very hard but people were always swiping stuff, some days more stick went via theft than was sold, one day it was picked clean by travelling folk, she gave up in the end. Another bloke had a shoe shop and sold all the popular brands, it wasnt unheard of for some ****** to come in, try some shoes on the run off in them.
Secondly, why the **** doesn't the lazy, scrounging **** pick a paint brush up and fix his house and garden himself?
When will you people stop reading The Daily Mail? Even if the story is completely true down to every last detail all it does is what it is deisgned to do... make you 'outraged'! You can rest assured that the rag paid them for their story..... which is hardly doling out the harsh treatment they claim to want for these people!

We know they exist, they have for decades now. We can't do anything about it. The governments past and present haven't done/won't do anything about it despite what they say so what's the use in reading about it in the likes of The Daily Mail who themselves don't want it to stop as 'outrage' sells papers!

the worry is, most seem to end up on Jeremy Kyle or in the Mail!!!
That family is a ******* disgrace. Just look at that house... How can they live in a house with walls that grotty and dirty? It looks as if they are living in a slum. All he needs to do is get up off his ******* backside and give the entire house a lick of paint and probably some polyfiller too. Their carpets are a total mess and their garden is just appalling. There is no pride at all in that family. Scum and a waste of space in this world the whole lot of them.

I seriously cannot believe how a family can live in such grotty conditions like that, especially with toddlers around. I think you almost verge on mentally wrong/something not right in the head if those adults think it's fine to live like that which is what they've been doing.
That's the media in this country for you. Still they'll have to wind their neck in when the new Royal Charter is put in place.....
.... oh hang on, no they won't because it's got no teeth thanks once again to the spineless politicians!!!

No, the worry is that these 'less than 110 families' with that many kids on benefits very likely make up a grossly disproportionate number of the total number of families with that many kids in the entire country. Let's face it, how many couples who could actually pay for the upbringing of 9 or more kids out of their own pockets would choose to spawn so many?
When I was growing up, being on benefits wasn't something to be proud of/happy with but compared to when my parents were growing up...then it was something to be ashamed of. Now, somehow, there is no shame at all (and there shouldn't be when it comes to falling back on a system there to help in times of need) to the point of people thinking they are owed a living, and are actually happy to be supported fully by the state. While it may not be a huge issue now (some may say), what happens in the next generation when these 9 kids+ have 9 kids of their own each, all dragged up the same way? I don't know what the solution is, as it's a problem with people's mentality.
For the record, I am not one of these people that demonises the poor (I am very much at the low end of the scale) nor do I think people claiming benefits are the root of all evil. I do, however, feel that a change needs to come to those who think they are entitled to a free ride.
Huge amounts of the welfare budget just goes to the banks via the BTL landlords who they finance. What the BTL landlords don't pay to the banks in interest they pocket. Lending more money inflates the market, and the more the DWP must shell out to cover the costs of (inflating)rent in turn fueling demand for this 'investment' class in a vicious circle. On top of that the taxpayer now covers what you might call macro risk, Market crisis. It's one big wealth extraction from the taxpayer, and an attempt to corner an asset class which we all need to live. Quite literally our property has been so inflated that we can't afford to live in it anymore; housing benefit is a testament to that, plus help to buy. Of course blame people at the bottom.

But the problem is, if something doesn't change, this is only going to get much worse. Not to mention, how many 'families' are there on benefits like this, but with 'only' 6/7/8 kids? I suppose it depends where you live and what you see around you, but the whole abuse of the benefits system is a problem and whilst some may argue it's not that big of a problem, it will be.
