I bet it was , and for my astigmatism, getting them to sit right..
I've got torics(sp?) too but wasn't aware that they would be any more difficult to put in than non-torics.

I find towards the end of the month (got monthly chuckables) that I struggle to figure out which way is "inside-out" and which was is correct, without sticking it in my eye first of course. When they're "fresh" they've got a much more defined shape.

I have thought about contacts but as I am long sighted and have astigmatism my spec doctor has advised against them for exactly as dpb says being very hard to get the lens center in the correct place.

my brother had laser eye surgery with implants fitted and he loves it, describing it to seeing everything in HD. I have toyed with it but it scares the crap out me as I am a deck officer and need my eyes for my job, and being qualified for naff all else wouldn't have anything to fall back on if something did go wrong.

Tried contact lenses but I prefer glasses.

Bear in mind though, this may not be as straightforward as it seems. For example:
I'm away on holiday so my eyewear kit comprises:

1 x pair frameless multifocals
1 x spare pair frameless multifocals (always carry as broke a pair on holiday in past and spent a week in sunglasses night & day)
1 x pair multifocal sunglasses
1 x prescription swimming goggles
1 x pocket magnifying glass (reading microscopic contents on packets)
1 x can lens cleaner solution
3 x microfibre cleaning cloths

And that doesn't included my non-prescription snorkelling mask.

Makes laser eye surgery look convenient and reasonably priced.

Good luck, whatever you choose!

Bumped into a mate I haven't seen in a few months who had laser eye surgery 5 years ago, and he's back with glasses as his eyes are returning back the poor vision.... He's not bothering with surgery again as £1500 for 5 years isn't worth it in his opinion (each to their own).

Which contacts are best in terms of daily or monthly ?

Why would any wants daily if you can pop them in for a month and switch off to them. ?

Rob

Ps Sam that sounds terrible! I can get away without glasses for 80% of the day! it's my phone! reading and PC work that gets me ;(

at the mo, I am finding daily's more comfortable over the monthlies, in the last week or so with the monthly's, you can feel that they were getting old as they were not as flexible as they were when in new.

yes it was a lot more easy and hassle free, but the daileys feel more fresh, but are more of a pita as have to change them each day and more expensive for me

£15.50 for monthleys
£25 for dailies (the lens that I found the best out of the different ones that I tried, they were ones that were quite a bit cheaper)

That was it, getting them right way out , forgotten, it must be 20 years ago.

This together with Sam above ^^ itinerary, and the 1500 quid laser eye surgery story keeps me with plain old glasses - just couldn't be bothered

Thus far, I don't need reading glasses

Update:

I had my eye examination, and I was informed I am suitable for contacts. One of my eyes is a "rugby ball shape" he says, but that is no issue. I wasn't able to take lenses away there and then as one of my eyes is "complicated" he says.

Anyway my trial contacts are ordered for next week, so I will find out next Wednesday what they are like.

He also told me to arrive 30 minutes before my appointment where a member of staff will pop them in for me, and I am then to walk down the middle of the road and see if I can avoid traffic better than I could before! Then pop back for an eye test.

I hope these work for me, as if they don't I am very tempted at laser eye surgery As glasses are getting on my nerves recently!

Update:

Appointment was an epic Fail!

The lens prescription wasn't correct for my eye, and removal of the lens was practically impossible as I couldn't see with my slightly better eye to remove the lens due to being long sited.

Back in on Wednesday for the correct prescription.
