This is an interesting thread, sorry for just joining the dicussion. Just to clarify the rods used in Kwik's engine are my I beam stroker rods, He purchased some 2.0 height pistons so the engine was built with -2mm rods I stock.
When a thread starts about rod choice it always goes the same way, use these, don't buy off ebay, get some from the states, avoid chinese rubbish etc etc. The facts are that the majority of rods are now made in China. The base cost from the chinese suppliers is pretty much the same, so you are basically paying extra (in most cases) for the name. My rods are made by the same company thats supplies a number of other rod suppliers, they charge alot more by the way! I no this is true as my supplier sent me a list of rods with a bit more info on it than they should of, oooops.
One very respected engine builder (non Subaru) just copied my stock list off ebay and charged £700 for them, when He sold a set He just bought them off me and sold them on as His. He now goes direct to China! Still £700 though.
My rods are based on the Arrow design, which has a much broader beam than the K1/Eagle/Manley type, so they are more suitable for high torque applications. Highest output I know of so far is 650bhp, I havn't seen one break yet.
I'll post a picture showing the beam design difference shortly.

Back on topic-ish...

If I had non stroker cosworth pistons and used a 79mm crank, would I need to use 2mm shorter rods to acheive a 2.1 stroker?

Yes thats correct, I have shorter I beam rods here, they arn't on my ebay listings though. I tend to only use them in my own builds to ensure it works as it should, comp ratio, block clearance etc.
If you need some give me a shout.

That's exactly what I had from Andy as I was a spaz and didn't check what I was ordering from Realstreetperformance.

Yeah just a bit of sarcasm. Personally I think your rods are a genuine value for money product and would seriously consider using them myself in a build.

They must be, i'm out of stock! More on the way though. I think the worst thing I done when I started the rods Business was setting the price too low, selling cheap on ebay does cause alot of Customers to question the quality. I get alot of phone calls asking 'why are they so cheap'.
Alot of people don't trust ebay products, but I have to say, from a sellers perspective ebay is a hard pace to (sell and be succesful), the feedback system keeps you on your toes thats for sure! There is always someone trying to undercut you and copy what your doing as well.
Since starting the business I am now the No. 1 seller of rods on ebay(uk) and I out sell my nearest rivel by more than double. Customer vote with their feet, and I have more and more repeat Customers.

Your short term LACK of greed (albeit not totally intended ) has, however, payed dividends in the long term. People, after all, do love an apparent 'bargain'.

Good for you.

As far as you and us are concerned, everyone's a winner.
