It depends whether you're fitting the FMIC for style points or efficiency. Mine's a Bug but the principle is the same. Leave the bar in place and a third of the FMIC is out of direct airflow, cut it off and the commercial grills don't fit. Without a grill even big insects will damage the fins, unless you drive about at 50mph.

I used Halford's mesh for the grill. There's enough of the bumper for strong attachment. It's not as pretty as the commercial version but it's very effective at preserving the FMIC and offers max efficiency, best of both worlds.

I'll be doing my own mesh grill for sure, the Halfrauds mesh is actually pretty decent stuff.

Guys, I have almost bitten the bullet on one of those Ramair cold feed kits off ebay but although I have the room to fit one of the 100mm-wide kits, I am not 100% sure I should aesthetically.

From the various pics above, are any of them 100mm intake holes or are they all 80mm holes? Thanks .

kevfawcett, would you be kind enough to roughly measure your intake to see if it is 100mm or 80mm please? thanks

wrx9181 and wrx0211, I haven't come across your types of intake on my searches, any pointers to where you got yours from please? thanks
