Don't forget that 15 minutes of sitting on your drive won't be a very good warm-up - especially for the transmission components which are also lubricated. Does this mean that we need to drive below 30 mph for the first few miles too, just to make sure all the diffs and gearbox have their oils warmed up too? I'm sure you can get nearly 90 out of a Scoob without going over 3000rpm - there must be quite a bit of friction going on in the diffs at this speed - maybe diff oil doesn't take too much warming up?
Back to the engine oil topic - I'm sure that I read in a recent True Grip that the oil in teh engine was only really viscous for the first few seconds of running and the engine only produces a handful of bhp while it has to overcome this friction. Surely once the oil is free-flowing around the engine, then all the parts will be sufficiently lubricated?
Don't we have any tribologists on the BBS?
BTW, I normally wait until the water temp gauge has reached its steady state position plus a couple of minutes before giving it any stick.
