Yes an no....depends on the tyre brand, wheel size and profile. And the monkey operating it.

Our old Balco tyre changer which pre-dates run flats could do run flats, so long as they weren't too low proile and aren't Bridgetones (I don't know why but Bridgestone are a roayl pain in the **** sometimes - even non-run flats). But it was a two man job on some tyres. And teh main arm could flex/bend bring the foot in contact with the wheel, so one had to keep a sharp eye out. If you didn't pay attention you could easyl chip or scuff a wheel.

Our new one has a more powerful bead breaker, and a few extra "helper" arms to help press the tyres into the well of the wheel whilst lifting the tyre over the rim. Its pretty much idiot proof, unless its wheels with protruding spokes like on Vauxhall Corsa wheels....where the spokes foul the changer.

I doubt you'd get new wheels unless its a main dealership. Refurb is the likely option.

I'd have the tyres removed to repair them, as the paint will likely flake off if its done with the tyres still fitted as you can't sand/prepare the damaged area properly as the tyre is in the way.

That's good news, a quick and seemingly agreeable course of action which imo goes some way to salvaging their reputation.
While no-one wants to have to get a trader to put something right after a cockup at least it shows they aren't cowboys.

There's loads of threads here where people have been p!ssed about after someone's mess-up.

Let's hope that it works out.

they refurbed them, which basically meant they got some **** in to wadge some filler on them and aerosol some silver paint over just the affected areas. They look medium oka but the paint wont take long to rub through with some washes and they didnt take the tyres off also so if you look down the edge the alloy is still bare.

I knew this was gonna happen so i wasnt angry or disappointed and I have decided to take my business (and my wheels else where).
ASDA tyres never even bothered to call me after I complained via the web site (you cant cal them) and i not dealing with the cowboys at arnold clarke any longer. life is too short.
