Default look what the garage have done to my wheels!

hi everyone,

i took my car to what i thought was a reputable name garage to have two new tyres fitted and an mot....look what the garage have done to my wheels!

ive kickedoff and as it was a saturday they have said the manager will call monday to arrange refurb of the two wheels.

my question is do you need a special machine to fit run flats ot have these just been fitted by a monkey?

do i push for new wheels and will they need to remove the tyres again to repair?

Looks like something that kwik fit would do - you'll be lucky to get new wheels but they should sort you a proper refurb which will need the tyres to come off

I've had plenty of tyres fitted without a damaged wheel, only when I've used a chain have I had issues

I`d insist on all 4 of them being done as they wont guarantee a colour match with just 2 of the wheels being refurbed.

This ^^^

You'll need all 4 doing for sure. Looks like they didn't use the little protective plate that sits between the wheel and the arm.

Complete monkeys.

i should insist they go else where to be repaired cos ive a feeling they will try and bodge them up without taking the tyres off.

Ouch. Feel for you mate. Name and shame the garage so that no one else has this issue.

Looks like a gash in the tyre to me.

One wheel maybe a mistake, but that looks plain amateurish.

You're probably talking about the excess rubber from the mould, If you're looking on a mobile phone screen it could look like a gash but on my large pc monitor it clearly is just excess rubber.

That looks shocking. If they are run flats they are a b###h to fit, a machine with an assist arm helps but a decent fitter taking care can fit them on a normal machine without damaging the rims.

Was going to say that, I'd not accept that tyre.

Was it Kwik-Fit?

I've just had my two rear wheels rebalanced thanks to a certain BMW main dealers inability to do so after fitting some new tyres. Both wheels significantly out according to the bloke in the tyre fitters. I was contemplating having a moan at them but I'll more than likely just write off the £10 it cost to experience (i.e. never use main dealers for tyres again). However at least they did manage to get the run-flats on the wheels without damage.....

Yours look shocking and as others have said I'd get them refurbished at somewhere you trust and get them to pay.

Shocking.

I had my bike rear wheel repainted at the expense of a 'specialist bike tyre fitter' after he did similar. He tried to deny it until I brought the rest of the immaculate bike in which did not have a spec of dust on it let alone scatches & chips. I was having none of it.

Kn08h3ad5 of the highest order, 99% of tyre fitters give the rest a bad name. Have spent ages finding one I trust.

Op has said that a manager will call to arrange refurb.

That's almost admitting liability.
If they do call I'd say it certainly is.

However, in fairness if they do then at least they're being straight. That would give me hope that they'll sort things to the op's satisfaction.

Perhaps let's not all get hasty.

I can't see any damage to the tyre viewing on the iPad, therea a couple of mould marks I can see but no damage.

I dont understand when people do things like this though, who in their right mind would take this level of care on a paying customers vehicle.

Got them to price match BlackCircles so not so bad but yeah their opening offer was a bit out there. Anyway they fcuked it up so won't be using them for tyres ever again.
