look what the garage have done to my wheels!

hi everyone,

i took my car to what i thought was a reputable name garage to have two new tyres fitted and an mot....look what the garage have done to my wheels!

ive kickedoff and as it was a saturday they have said the manager will call monday to arrange refurb of the two wheels.

my question is do you need a special machine to fit run flats ot have these just been fitted by a monkey?

do i push for new wheels and will they need to remove the tyres again to repair?

Looks like something that kwik fit would do - you'll be lucky to get new wheels but they should sort you a proper refurb which will need the tyres to come off:thumb:

I've had plenty of tyres fitted without a damaged wheel, only when I've used a chain have I had issues:mad:

Looks like it's been to a chimps tea party.:thumb:

I`d insist on all 4 of them being done as they wont guarantee a colour match with just 2 of the wheels being refurbed.

This ^^^

You'll need all 4 doing for sure. Looks like they didn't use the little protective plate that sits between the wheel and the arm.

Complete monkeys.

dj219957 08 September 2013 04:44 PM

i should insist they go else where to be repaired cos ive a feeling they will try and bodge them up without taking the tyres off.

LDNSTi 08 September 2013 04:45 PM

Ouch. Feel for you mate. Name and shame the garage so that no one else has this issue.

53 08 September 2013 05:03 PM

Nice gash in the tyre too, quality job :lol1:

saying that the kwikfit in cambs aint too bad but i would take my scoob there ,i have a mate at another tyre shop

dj219957 08 September 2013 05:19 PM

where is the gash in the tyre?

*matthewturb2000* 08 September 2013 05:22 PM

3rd pic from bottom

Scoobydoo Ste 08 September 2013 05:25 PM

I see no gash ......

dj219957 08 September 2013 05:37 PM

i think that is a paint mark but ill check. i think ill push to get them repaired else where and them to pick up the bill.

*matthewturb2000* 08 September 2013 05:39 PM

look like a pinch if its broke the tyre wall it will need a new tyre too i think?were they brand new tyres put on

dj219957 08 September 2013 05:41 PM

yes

the shreksta 08 September 2013 05:44 PM

can you prove they did the damage tho? im not calling you a liar but without proof its your word against theirs

*matthewturb2000* 08 September 2013 05:56 PM

there shouldn't be no marks on them anywhere then.... where was it done freds bargain tyres

thenewgalaxy 08 September 2013 06:45 PM

Looks like a gash in the tyre to me.

One wheel maybe a mistake, but that looks plain amateurish.

Scoobydoo Ste 08 September 2013 08:12 PM

You're probably talking about the excess rubber from the mould, If you're looking on a mobile phone screen it could look like a gash but on my large pc monitor it clearly is just excess rubber.

scotty44 08 September 2013 08:29 PM

Kin'ell Andy
Who did them mate so I no not to go there,
As said I would be asking for all 4 refurbed to get a match...

RICHARD J 08 September 2013 09:00 PM

That looks shocking. If they are run flats they are a b###h to fit, a machine with an assist arm helps but a decent fitter taking care can fit them on a normal machine without damaging the rims.

Was going to say that, I'd not accept that tyre.

Was it Kwik-Fit?

grey_boy 09 September 2013 01:14 PM

'You can't beat a kwik fit fitter'

Not to hard anyway

Graz 09 September 2013 01:14 PM

I've just had my two rear wheels rebalanced thanks to a certain BMW main dealers inability to do so after fitting some new tyres. Both wheels significantly out according to the bloke in the tyre fitters. I was contemplating having a moan at them but I'll more than likely just write off the £10 it cost to experience (i.e. never use main dealers for tyres again). However at least they did manage to get the run-flats on the wheels without damage.....

Yours look shocking and as others have said I'd get them refurbished at somewhere you trust and get them to pay.

Ooogh main dealers for tyres.... robin buggerz

Fetch the lube..

Porkpie 09 September 2013 01:42 PM

Shocking.

I had my bike rear wheel repainted at the expense of a 'specialist bike tyre fitter' after he did similar. He tried to deny it until I brought the rest of the immaculate bike in which did not have a spec of dust on it let alone scatches & chips. I was having none of it.

Kn08h3ad5 of the highest order, 99% of tyre fitters give the rest a bad name. Have spent ages finding one I trust.

Op has said that a manager will call to arrange refurb.

That's almost admitting liability.
If they do call I'd say it certainly is.

However, in fairness if they do then at least they're being straight. That would give me hope that they'll sort things to the op's satisfaction.

Perhaps let's not all get hasty.

Worlasshasansti 09 September 2013 02:38 PM

I can't see any damage to the tyre viewing on the iPad, therea a couple of mould marks I can see but no damage.

I dont understand when people do things like this though, who in their right mind would take this level of care on a paying customers vehicle.

Got them to price match BlackCircles so not so bad but yeah their opening offer was a bit out there. Anyway they fcuked it up so won't be using them for tyres ever again.

dj219957 09 September 2013 05:48 PM

there is no damage to the tyres, i have checked and doubled checked, probly trick of the camera. they have called today and to say they arranged an external refurb company to fix next week. ill give them a chance but if they dont look right ill kick off again. anyhow the car is going up for sale now.
