Gonna have to keep an eye on that hose, as its basically on the cam cover, may have to put something sacrificial there to take the rubbing if it were to occur.
I described fitting that pipe as an elephant trying to **** a gnat!!

I would have thought you would feel a vibration through the car being that close bud, when the car is moving the engine is naturally going to move / rock to a degree which may be the final nail in that scenario, same with the water pipe keep an eye out for rubbing to the pipe under movement, last thing you want is for that to go on you when your not local and after the effort you put in

I'll have to keep my top mount in the boot ready at all times lol.
But my engine barely moves, as I have group N engine mounts from Roger Clarke. So as long as I keep an eye it should be fine.

May use some to wrap around the intercooler pipe where it goes near the cam cover too, give that some rubbing instead of the hose underneath

I know this will sound horrendous and I any even believe I'm saying it out loud but if that area by the cam cover is tight to the point it no space at all as a complete desperate last resort (I'm saying that because I can't believe I'm going to suggest this) what about dropping the pipe in the vice warming it up a little and turning the handle, would the pipe made slightly "oval" where the cam cover is help ?
You have another option as I remember Chris and Gemma had this same problem and that's why this one intercooler pipe was routed a different way on Dylan's wrx, I'm sure prospeed made that up at the time, he may have pipe mm or two smaller down there or make a slightly new bend/route up.

Car is RUNNING
Videos are here.
The exhaust was blue smoke on start up, as the bores had been oiled. The exhaust has not had heat for 6 months, so was a tad smokey, along with the smoky heat wrap

Now been quiet on here for a while, cbfa with certain aspects.
Anyhoo, I had a small issue with the car in that when I fitted the engine I kinda damaged the cage the thrust bearing clips into, meaning when you put your foot on the clutch it popped and pedal went to floor. This was the straw that broke the camels back and I got pee-d off and decided my Landy warranted the attention. So my scooby sat in my drive with me hacked off.
Anyway I had a chat with a mate who shall remain nameless as he is a hated man lol, but Dylan kindly offered use of his garage as I'm fcuked off working on the floor on my drive as I have already fitted a box on my own, the engine, and changed the diff on my back on the floor I really cbfa anymore. So took the car to Dylans on a bar and used my trusty Vectra GSI run-around to tow it to his garage. Made Dylan poo himself by accelerating hard off a round-about near his home, his face was a picture, trusty V6 power lol.
So plan is now to remove gearbox enough to change that cage, as I have a spare, then get the car ready for Japfest on Sat (nothing like a deadline hey). Then drive up to Castle Combe slowly, as she hasn't been run in yet, and then after 100 miles drop the mineral oil in her, and replace with semi synthetic I bought a fair few months ago now.
Anyways 2 pics from today, will post some more tomorrow when we get around to "hopefully" finishing her off ready.
Think someone is tailgating me tbh!!

Progress today;
Gear box removed in 2 hours, and the problem is found. The thrust bearing is on the input shaft, with the fork connected, snug on the thrust bearing is the cage the spring clip is somewhere inside the clutch
Will get some better pics tomorrow, but just a couple of today.
Does anyone know the make of this exhaust?? There is not one marking on it lol.

Well after my trip to Japfest this is my mileage on return
Well I can honestly say now that the engine ran without issue, I did however assume the VERY worst at one point. I came off the motorway after the run from Combe and as I waited to turn right there was a knocking from the engine , revved the engine and nothing, no oil light, no sign of anything other than a knock at idle. So whilst I fretted I decided to stop and have a look in my local Tesco (2 min drive), on the way the engine was sweet as a nut.
Quick call to my tech support (hands free), and we had a couple of ideas, one an easy fix, the other not so.
So pulled up in the Tesco and there it was again, my heart sank as she's barely done 300 miles. So popped the bonnet and the noise got louder, and the dreaded walk of shame and financial consequences.
Then with the engine still running the problem became obvious straight away, the crank pulley had become loose, and the air-con belt had jumped a tooth rubbing the cambelt cover. So I put some petrol in and got home (a 1 min drive). ThereI parked in the drive and started on sorting this issue.
A 22mm socket went on but no room for the rachet, bollards!! The new rad was in the way, as its thicker. Even cut down an old broken 1/2 inch 22mm socket and no play. Then I tried a spanner, 22mm will not grip properly, I have no metric swan neck spanners, so thought I was up a certain creek with no paddle, but to the rescue (by falling out of the tool roll and onto my foot), a 7/8ths swan neck spanner. A quick check against the socket and away too go.
Car in 1st handbrake on, facing up hill and the spanner on the bolt. Slackened off the air con and got the belt back on, then 7/8ths swan neck spanner on and managed to nip up tight, tried a little more and the car started to move up hill
Started up the engine and it was sweet as a nut again. Will check every now and then, and if it continues to be a PITA will add a tiny dab of thread lock, and put back.
Anyways here are some pics of mine and a few of my mates at Japfest, with a superb location just off Tarmac right by the Rally Car trips
