I will re-cap just for you. 3 PHONES IN TWO YEARS DUE TO FAULTS !
1st phone the screen packed up within 3 months.
2nd phone switched off and would not turn on again
3rd phone the home button stopped working.
You made no mention of that fact in the post I quote.

I also fail to see how the fact you've had 3 of them fail makes them cheap build quality. There are more than enough IPhone users out there that haven't had such issues. In fact I'm typing this message on a first gen iPad which I've had for nearly 3 years now and it still works fine.

You fail to see how 3 iphones going so wrong apple replaced them is a build quality issue?? wow. Believe it or not (not bothered) my son away at uni has just messaged me . He said sorry i've not replied to you dad but my iphone wont charge. So that 4 in 2 years in my family. Either where very unlucky or there is a quality issue.

I'm going to go with unlucky on the 3 you've owned. Like I said there are plenty of people out there that have/had owned iPhones that haven't failed. I fact as an example I can name at least 5 friends/family that own iPhones that haven't broken.

As for your lads problem, I'd hazard a guess that was due to apples daft connector. They have a tendency to get full of fluff, not a show stopper and certaintly not a quality issue. Just a bad design.

You are correct in that his charging issues are down to the apple connector. He has cleaned the fluff he can get too out but still no joy.
I would absolutely disagree that bad design is not bad build quality. if the device goes wrong due to an issue that was obvious i.e contaminants getting into the connector, the device was was not thought out or tested properly. That's bad build quality.

.
And the same can be said of most other manufacturers. The silent majority of people who are satisfied with their product remain unheard.

So, if someone says Company X's products have poor build quality because of their experiences, they the same must be true for Company Y's.

Apple have had issues with their recent products, like anyone else, so they are no better in that respect. No worse either though.
