I'm in the same decade also.
I can't help wonder if they've made some kind of ***** up with the price.
Are other reputable companies in the same ball park?

 

As mine is due august i just done a quick compare the market quote.
again 1st central came top at £250.09 with an excess of £150
to protect my 9 years no clains it was an extra £13.79, break down was extra £32, legal cover £30

so £326 all in. not too bad i guess.

ill shop around still tho!

As with everything in life, you get what you pay for!

Im nearly done in my second year of insurance with them. Its easy.... You just dont crash!

If they an offer insurance for £250, why the hell cant ALL the other insurance companies?

To be honest they are all robbing *****, just look at what new youn drivers are expected to fork out these days. The companies judt make it up as they go along.

Back in 2010 i paid the best part of a grand to insure my old 3-door sierra, through HIC i think it was, part of the flux group.

Anyway i was rear ended by some pikeys that drove off, i had a assenger as witness as no other **** stopped at 12pm on a very busy roundbout, had he police out looking for them as they left their front number plate at the scene and were know to cops...

Anyway it took over 10 months to get the car paid for, and in march ths year the injury claim was settled...

So they are all as **** as each other nd not worth paying extra for a 'reputable' company as most are owned by the same people anyway....

 

just as an aside, i was listening to a radio programme a couple of years ago about a guy who had a normal everyday car, and had just got done for driving with no insurance, after 17 years of driving with no insurance!!! he got a fine of £400 and 6 points on his license, but imagine how much money he had saved over the years by having no insurance premium to pay?? i hasten to add, i work in insurance and would never suggest not having insurance for obvious reasons, but that is a story of someone who got away with it for a long time and saved himself a lot of money and relatively speaking wasnt very harshly punished.

the quotes that some of these insurance companies come up with are ridiculous, im 39, full no claims bonus, and a clean license, and experience of driving performance cars for a long time and i get quotes from comparison sites ranging from 490-4000!!! and when i say 490, that is the cheapest and the next one jumps to 1600!!! how can any company justify that cost???

 

How did he get Road Tax? I may be going mad but I am sure that my insurance gets checked every time I get tax. Surely he must have got done for no tax too?

 

Insurance company's are all the same and try to find a way out of paying up and not always easy to deal with direct, I find its the broker that's the important bit, a good broker will not only get best deal they can but also be there if the worst happens and help you sort it out. I am with a plan and do shop around each year but for some reason I can never better the renewal and have been with them for 6 years.

 

oh, also check the small print, i know a few half decent motors that have been stolen from london/essex area while they were for sale and the owners were out on a test drive with the potential new buyer.
but because they had left the keys in the car when they went to swap over driver, the insurance companies have refused to pay out!

so be careful.

as i said, it doesnt matter who your are with, they are all *****!
