Yes, SC40 is effectively the equivalent to a developed and billetised 20g.

It was one of the last turbos of the SC series that got the billet comp wheel, IIRC. A great choice for the 380-400bhp goal.

Mine is pegged at 1.5 bar as it uses the standard UK heads and studs/bolts.
Bob Rawle advised not to go over 1.5 bar.

I ran 1.5 bar on a 20g. Stock engine. 750cc injectors reg. fmic.
To be honest the difference in tune from 16g-20g wasn't huge. Few degrees less timing and a touch more fuel.

1.5 bar is about the max you should be running on a standard block, but a 20g has potential to kill your gearbox if you don't treat it with care.

It all depends how lucky or unlucky you are.
A mate who recently had his mapped just on an 18g had the engine let go with a well known mapper so it's luck of the draw - the best advice I can give is get the car thoroughly checked over and serviced prior to the tune.

On 550's you'll be pushing it once you get into the higher 300's and would be better stepping it up or the injectors will be at 100% duty cycle. You may also want to consider a slightly higher flowing fuel pump although not strictly essential.

Since mine is a forged 2.5, I was advised to go 6-speed during the build.

Makes sense due to the additional slab of torque you get with the 2.5
I think that provided you're sensible with it, the 5 speeds can handle power into the late 300's as it's the torque that kills em, but they don't like being launched!

I have been offered a sc40 .. Would this kill my stock engine (99 type r ) aim is 380 bhp I no it's a 400 bhp turbo... Just wondering people's thoughts are.

I have blown 1 gear box and The engine is now burning oil and down on compression.
This is after about 6 months of 1.5 bar on a 20G driven hard with 11.5AFR
