Modern cars: b*llox technology!
I am a complete 335d nerd if you need any more info.
Will be shifting mine soonish but it's getting older now (56 reg) albeit with lowish miles (just hit 50k). Just trying to persuade the missus who absolutely LOVES the 335d (as do I really - in fact I feel guilty just looking at other cars...

Strange that it used to be cheaper than petrol until loads of people bought diesel cars.
It's about 12p cheaper a litre than petrol out here in Croatia for "euro diesel" and in some old petrol stations you can still get just diesel without additives which is another 3/4p cheaper still and is ok for my 3.1 trooper and 2.4 T4 transporter
LPG is very popular here and the price is creeping up, few years ago it was less than half the price of petrol now it's a bit more than half, and all fuel here is about 20% less than the UK.
So not to sure how they work out the UK prices.

Hi Steve
When we are bought ST TDCi same like you we are got CEL,my thought has been EGR right away, later on I've plugged OBD scanner and EGR fault showed
We are took few times before EGR Valve apart and cleaned and for few miles has been OK,but again after 100 miles same EGR error showed,we are bought EGR plate has been again for 100 miles OK
Later we are bought EGR bypass which has been best thing and never we are got the EGR error and plus we are used one connector for boost gauge
Just search on the eBay Jaguar EGR bypass,we are bought this and worked on our one without the problem

Bought a new EGR valve from a Jag dealer for £140 and fitted it myself, car runs spot on now. Might look at the blanking plate if i get any problems with this EGR in the future though!

Nope. You are supposed to ensure that your car can withstand their tests.
If they made a mistake, like trying to use the two-wheel brake tester rollers on a 4-wd car, they might be, but proving it???

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
A colleague asked me what his check engine light was on for ?
I said his points needed adjusting....
He said "OK" and walked away.... am I that good at sarcasm ?
dunx
P.S. I later said it's most likely due to poor fuel quality, and the garage used a £2K system to agree with me....
