Yup.. well long story short noticed a mistake of oil coming out of exhaust when giving it some.. so yesterday afternoon stripped exhaust, turbo, header etc off the car only oil I can find is in downpipe so I'm thinking turbo issue. So it's off and back to owens to be checked. I'm leak down testing the engine this weekend which I seriously doubly be the problem.

In the mean time got a few little things I'm going to be doing to the car while the turbo is off make the most of the summer nights after 12 hour shifts 😂

So I've sold my D2 8pots and just ordered some new D2 6 pots 356. Only problem is that there are none in the UK and 3-5 week waiting and having to pay £120 for air post on them but hey ho...

Got some defi gauges so be putting them in next time I get a day off. Was hoping to get the car to tuner fest this weekend but due to no breaks not going to be able to take the car with cams

SO ITS GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS

SO THE BAD FIRST

So the owens turbo i have on the car. From day one the car smoked on the 2.0 forged engine i put in but didnt last very long as from my thread you know. once the engine went i sent it back to Owens to be checked and they sent it back with a full ok health check,

Then my new 2.35 engine was fitted, at Area 52 when Jase was mapping it he noticed straight away a fine mist of smoke that was coming out, we thought at the time that it was a small amount of oil in the exhaust still from when the engine went. so i picked up the car from jas after it only boosting to 1.4 bar and wouldmt go any further. which again i thought it was a problem with turbo. got the car home from Jase only 60miles and it had used a load of oil! at this point the turbo had only done about 300 miles from new and then running in on dyno and map then drive home. So i drove the car for a week monitoring the oil level which went down. After speaking to owens on the phone they insisted that it has to be the engine and i got fed up with hitting a wall speaking to them

So i had a early finish from work and went home and stripped the car. Firstly doing a Leak down and pressure test both ok. then took, headers,up pipe, down pipe and exhaust off which were all ok. then came looking at the turbo. there was play in the shaft and could open the wastegate with my thumb. so sent the turbo to owens again! when i first sent it there was some slight play in the shaft and again on the 2.0 engine it would not boost past 1.4 bar.

so after a couple of days i get a response from Lee himself. saying the turbo is goosed and i need to pay £460 plus Vat plus P&P to fix it. that the engine has cause the damage and not the turbo failing and its over 12 months old yes but only done less than 700 miles! the fact that the turbo and inlet cost me £2350!!!! i got nothing but bad customer services from them. No compromise on costs or anything.. basically tough its impossible that its the engine and it needs a rebuild.

So i have managed to get £900 for the turbo as it is now off Simon at Chevron. i will never be using or recommending Owens again after this experience...

On the good side

i have bought a full rotated kit off a mate who is breaking his car, Borg Warner 7064 twinscroll turbo which made 475/520 at 1.7bar so im hoping fo mid 500s when i get it mapped

YUP

forgot to say the first time the turbo went back after oil in exhaust etc and i belived there to be play in shaft.. and i quote from a owens worker.. we just put it on the test rig did not look at the internals. which means the just put it on rig with oil going though at a certain pressure thats all no internal examination

Stripped front end off the car to get powder coated while I'm sorting this turbo problem out. Started putting it all back together today. Very happy with how it's turned out

Sorry to hear about your problems. You're really not having an easy ride with this car, what a nightmare!

I think you've made the right decision to finally go rotated as it will help get the best from this car.

Onwards and upwards!

Putting it all back together this weekend hopefully. Just need to order some new oil from AS and coolest. The get it running. Just waiting on the new D2 brakes now which should be here end of next week then it's up to jase for a map tweak. Same set up on a 2.5 made 475/520 at 1.7 full boost at 2500rpm . Also just got to plumb in another fuel pump and doing swirl pot. Not alot of work but having time to do it atm. 2-3 weeks tops hoping to be on the dyno

Ryan

So hoping to run 2 bar on it see what I get.

Front splitter was really bugging me seemed no matter what I did was still on a angle. Worked it out that the HT Autos splitter goes down 15mm on the side of the bumpers which is taking the rest of it out of line. So that's the next job make it sit flush and level
