Shell Nitro Plus?

I have just filled 2/3 of my tank (Mercedes 2.0l Turbo) with Nitro + and feel a bit awkward with what I am about to report. I have generally been highly suspicious of description such as 'feel' when describing power gains through fuel. I could never 'feel' any difference between Sainsburys 97 super and Shell 99 V power (although fuel economy is around 2mpg better on a long run with Shell) but upon filling up with this new fuel I am 'feeling' a difference.
I cant say whether it is quicker and doubt that I ever could but the car did feel smoother. It's difficult to put my finger on it but there seemed less mechanical noise, although the engine note (the good noise) wasn't quieter, if anything it was slightly more obvious. The transition between accelerating and lift off also appeared to be less jolty. The last thing I felt was the revs. This I am struggling to describe, it just felt smoother, not sure why or how but it was a nicer drive.
Overall I am impressed and surprised. I wasnt expecting this which is why I am more of a believer. If anything I had hoped and perhaps looked for greater acceleration and power but only after a few fill ups, certainly not on the first go. I havent actually heard of anyone else reporting this so not sure if I am going mad but this is the first time I might be able to justify to myself spending 10p/litre more than the Sainsburys stuff.

If there is any difference ( which I highly doubt ) between this 'new' nitro and the old v-power then it'd be that minor you would never tell the difference. Its nothing but a marketing ploy and all those people sayimg their car feels better have been well and truely sucked in.
Just like the video shell released where they ran a F1 car on v-power and reported no performance difference between the road fuel and the race fuel F1 cars use.

I always run vpower in my type r; I filled up the other evening with the new version and found the engine ran smoother, sounded smoother and seemed to rev happier. There definitely is a change from vpower and it seems good so far, happy days for us regular vpower users

used it here, didnt think anything of it, presumed just a rebrand of vpower, same price etc
to be fair, i have used shell optimax/vpower for the last 8 yrs of owning the scoob and touch wood the engine has been reliable, the mpg has been good and if i had to use tesco millenium or whatever it was in an emergency, it felt horrible !!
so gimic or not, my scoob loves the stuff :-)

MattyB - I would have been completely agreeing with you normally and like the fact that I dont get suckered into marketing, in fact the only reason I would put V power in over the Sainsburys 97 in the past was due to the hope that it might be 'cleaning' the engine and the extra MPG over distance driving - I certainly never felt any difference.
This thread is all I have bothered reading on the new V power and havent read all the posts. The fact that I felt something I wasnt looking for or expected and then read up that it is supposed to reduce friction by 25% reinforces my belief that this time there actually a difference to feel.

Hmmm i dont know what to do - i want to try it... BUT
on my car the VPower makes my car feel slower and also the MPG seems to be less than on Tesco
and the Tesco gives me more pops and a solid boost through the range.
So do i try this new stuff.....? (my car is mapped on Tesco)

Ive just filled the van with nitro diesel and got a second gear spinner out of the forecourt !!!! Definately giving me more power, or was it just a bit of spilt diesel on the floor ???
LOL......
Seriously though, I haven't tried it but will fill up this week and see what happens.

The important thing is - for those already mapped for the previous V-Power (inc. me) - is that it is indeed still (at least) 99 RON!
I.e. we don't want any det.
Filled up tonight with the new Nitro+ for the first time, so will do some hooning soon, and be checking my CEL for knock (Simtek-mapped)...

Some of you guys are concerned with the wrong thing.....
IF it burnt that much better than your previous VPower tankful and gave such a bigger bang for your buck, that you could actually "feel", I'd be more concerned about my fuel running lean and grenading my piston crown, rather than how much more power it was potentially giving me.
Have you lot learned nothing yet!

Filled up today, no noticeable difference although the forecourt guy assured me I'd get better fuel consumption. That'll be nice then. I still have to stand and think before refueling though - which bright spark at Shell thought it was clever to have diesel and petrol V-Power pumps side by side and exactly the same colour?
