Some parents have a lot more money than sense.I once saw a bunch of 6th formers in school uniform going to school driving a Golf VR6.
Would you, even if you had the money?

jesus, you want to ask them if they can teach you to spell in exchange for the ecu.
If I was his father and you said you wouldn't sell it, then I would walk right away and find another as you judged him before knowing his intensions, I wouldn't want to put money towards people like that.
Most kids would love their parents to buy them a car as a project before they passed their test.

No m8 I can't as I am dislektik and can't help as have been trying for years to learn but can build you a car in my sleep and build you a home to live in and bikes to ride m8 just can't spell for **** I can live wive it and you don't do you
This is a ridiculous thread. Sell the car, take the money while its on offer as you might not get another.
The kid wants a project car, doesnt mean he'll be out joy riding. I had a citroen AX to mess about with when I was 15, I didnt go thrashing around.

i'd be careful too, if his dad seems fine, then sell it to his dad
look what happened to scatty - he sold his spec c to someone in germany (iirc), scatty set the ecu to about 300bhp, but it was capable of about 380bhp. he told the new owner to learn how to drive it first and he would tell him how to get the full bhp in a couple of months. after a week, the new owner was on the phone begging to be told how to get the higher bhp. scatty reluctantly told him what to do.
within a week he killed himself in an accident
scatty felt terrible about telling him what to do. if he hadn't told him, he might still be alive. or he might have been driving exactly the same speed the lower bhp and still crashed
like has been said, if he doesn't buy your's, he will just buy one from someone else

Its not your responsibility what someone does in a car you sell.
If they drive like idiots\illegally they only have one person to blame.
Its not as if its hard to buy an impreza is it.
If he has the cash sell it. If you dont he will get one elsewhere

This thread is getting silly. Just sell it, or don't and move on. What's to say you take a scooby up to 500 bhp and the third owner after you then has a fatal crash. Your fault? I think not. I do admire you for your principles though, but don't be too hung up on this. He may go on to look after the car more than you could ever imagine.
Years ago a friend of mine advertised his tuned Renault 5 GT Turbo for sale. A young a lad who had not passed his test long came and bought it. Not long after this he lost control and killed himself. He never really forgave himself for selling it to someone so inexperienced. To make matters worst the parents of this lad blamed him for their sons death and harassed and verbally abused him for months afterwards. This put strain on him, his marriage, there kids ect ect. I don't blame and respect the op for not selling.
I think what he's trying to say is you're a hypocrite. You sound like the type of 15 year old OP is trying to avoid
.
To the OP: Nice one for sticking by your decisions and instincts. You'll get another buyer. If you're not happy selling it then don't, simple really, it is yours. You'd feel awful if you read in the local paper a kid had been killed in an Impreza a few weeks later.

This site is full of dreamers/ ****** that think their the perfect drivers/ scaredto admit they sometimes drive a little fast...
Referring to the OP, I know someone who sold an Ultimata GTR to someone who openly admitted being inexperienced with fast cars yet wanted something very quick, mainly for track use.
He always regrets doing so as the young chap who bought it wrote both himself and the car off about three weeks later, on the public roads. He lost control of it at very high speed.
Ultimately, that 15 year old kid might get his hands on an Impreza anyway. He might not ever have a problem, just as I didn't driving high performance cars in my teenage years. But I sure as hell wouldn't want want a hand in a situation similar to what the chap I mentioned above did.
