Would you let a kid buy a scooby
I got some texts back and forth from someone wanting my car so i gets a call its the father who tells me his boy i've been speaking with.
Turns out the father is letting his boy 15 years old buy a scooby and he was halfing him for it as his boy wants a project i said i wouldn't sell him the car.

It very dependant on what he wants to do with it. I had my first car at 14. At that age i knew i wanted to be a mechanic. Had it in my parents garden for 3 years in which time i totally stripped it. Sprayed it rebuilt the engine etc etc. By the time i went to work at 16 as an aprentice i knew more than the average guy that had just left school. Im sure that it also helped me get the job as i was able to show i had great interest and some skill fir the job.
To add to that i spent alot of my time doing it. Id guess if i hadnt had something to keep me occupied i would have been yobbing around the streets getting into trouble or causing greaf for others

Without sounding like a dick it can happen to anyone.... as said in my previous post you dont know the person or how well they can drive.... the 15 year old could be the next ayrton senna or you could sell it to someone that writes it off on the journey home....

why should it be. You or i could sell our car to a 30 year old that has been driving a fiesta since they were 17. Could easily buy it and on the drive home go like an idiot and crash.

Whats the difference though of him selling it to a 30 year old and them killing themselves in it?

I agree. My niece passed her test last week at 18. The same day she went out on her own. Bought a clio. Insured while she was there and drove it home. That was the first time she had driven alone. God forbid if something had happened in know way could i blame the seller

Perhaps but at least it's not on the OP's conscience then.
I'm 75/25 in favour of the OP. Unless it was quite clearly out of reach of the young 'un or in bits after purchase so couldn't be taken for a spin anytime...

This is a strange one. I dont really see why or how the 15 year old is playtimes reasonability, surely thats the fathers job? If the 15 year old was to have a fatal accident, would it be playtimes fault in any way shape or form? No, so I dont see how it will be on his conscience, no more than it would if an adult bought the car from you and was in the same situation anyway.
But saying that I respect playtime for doing what he thinks is right

Would you sell it to a 30 year old ???
How do you know said 30 year old hasn't been inside for death by dangerous driving, points, drink driver etc etc.
Your reason for not selling the car is rediculous. The lad may well be highly educated and wise enough not to go joy riding. We all would of loved an impreza to work on when we were 15, its just very few of us could afford one.
With all due respect these cars are not the easiest sell at the mo, if your willing to wave a sale goodbye then more fool you.
