=colapepsi;11011301]The Impreza needs a new clutch, cam belt changing, 4 new tyres and servicing/mot.
How much to do all that 1000 to 1500??????

=colapepsi;11011525]This was a good forum, but all you get is insults and rudeness.
This is my second car.....I know you will not believe me.. I love the insults, keep them coming.

A couple of his posts are slightly antagonistic, so it's hardly suprising he gets a response.
Hardly a 'FFS' is it?

Some people (my post included) were trying to explain that his logic was flawed and there were other financial aspects that should have been taken into account, although i'd agree some of the other comments about changing to a Kia were a bit OTT.
Personally i couldn't care less if he has a Cosworth, a Kia, or a Lamborghini.... with all the ''i've sold my Impreza as they are crap and the owners are scum'' posts that pop up on here, a lot of owners will be very defensive of the marque they like.

Tbh I couldn't afford to run my Subaru as a daily but as a petrol head I think the yearly costs as a second car are worth it for the enjoyment.

I bought mine with my heart - head never got a look in
I've had 3 fantastic years with it but circumstances change in all our lives; mine for the worse, so I will have to put it up for sale
However, the minute those same circumstances improve enough I'll be back.
I can't imagine someone could use the K word in the same sentence, especially on here and not expect some sort of reaction. But, hey it's a free country...
Until my plan for world domination gets going.

You don't need to get it serviced at a main dealer to keep the warranty. The office of fair trading saw to that years ago. As long as the service done is in accordance to the service schedule and carried out by a vat registered garage then it'll be covered.
Fair play to him, no doubt it'll be cheaper to run, but the outlay to buy it is quite high. But each to their own.
Still waiting for the image of his second car with a can of beans on it though lol

as much as it pained me to do so, i too had to sell up and move away from subaru for a while which got me looking for a family car, spacious, good mpg, lowish tax and not too bad looking and ended up going for a kia too which ticked all the boxes... granted they arnt to everyones taste but you cant argue with the warrenty and actually well equiped for the money.. aircon, bluetooth connection sterio with built in speaker phone, full leather. its actually a nice place to be sat when your inside. i went for the Kia Soul, as i wanted something abit different looking from the 'car' so to speak. be assured this will only be in my possesion untill im not paying almost another mortgage in child care payments and once that is over it will be passed onto the missus and i will be back in something more suited to me probably a wide track sti blob...but we'll see.

I don't get it!
You could afford to run it and you liked it but instead you went out and spent more money on something that you admit isn't as good and are now trying to make it sound like a wise decision?
If it would have been to save cash then I think everyone would have agreed with you and said 'fair enough', I think it's the fact that you put 'money is not an issue' that's prompted all these replies.

You can use Genuine or OEM parts with the correct spec of oil required for the vehicle and the warrenty is in tact. The garage has to be VAT registered and a fully working garage and its ok. Make sure the paint work warrnety parts is stamped EVERY 12 month regardless of the service. If you rack up enough miles in 6 months, get it serviced, do not get body work check done. Every 12 months from date of registration.
Level 3 Rio is actually is a very ncie car, Kia's in the past 5 years have totally changed are actually a decently built, well spec'd car for the money. The 7 year warrenty is pretty comprehensive too,

Some people on this forum are just full of ****, honest people get a life, the guy posted a topic, thinking we would advise him without the pathetic and child like comments, I have posted very little on this forum as the click gang get involved and jump on the band wagon, why can people just be nice and comment without being judgmental. Anyway rant over,
I have two cars as running the subaru full time is expensive, I bought a fiat 500 and kit cost me pennies to run, I use that as my daily drive and the subaru for special occasions, it cost much less per year, if I was you I would of considered that as a option as driving the subaru for the fun factor and the big smile it puts on ur face is priceless, hope u enjoy the new car mate.

What time do you think you can fit me in for a short back and sides with a trim on top?

This whole thread seems a wind up. An ill conceived one at that too. It starts off with Imprezas are expensive to run blah blah and I'm buying something more economical. Then goes on to say this is my second car, an Escort Cosworth which is hardly a paragon of economy.
The OP has traded the Impreza in a for a newer more economical runabout, perfectly understandable. However he will still has the Cosworth for high days and holidays so wont miss the Impreza. What is the point of this thread?

Personally i think once you have sold your scooby - your account on this forum should just be instantly closed on here
But yeah running the Scoob as a full on daily runner if you have a good set of miles to cover would make the impretza a void! but so would all high end gas guzzlers.
But for the 12k i would have personally gone for a nice audi or BMW a few years old and stuck a private plate on

Why all the Kia hate?
I ran a (last shape) AWD Sportage Titan for 5 years as my daily. It was comfortable, well equipped, very reliable and reasonably cheap to run for a soft roader. The few issues it did have were covered under the 7 year/100,000 mile warranty with no quibbles. They even replaced a set of bushes at 75k which I was sure they'd argue were "wear & tear".
When I sold it with 92k on the clock it had averaged 2 grand a year in depreciation, so I consider it owed me nowt. My Evo lost 4 grand in four years and 10k miles.
That being said, I wouldn't try and argue that financial reasons weren't a major consideration in picking it, obviously they were, as a package it was excellent VFM. I'd happily have another Kia.
Though I still wouldn't drive a Rio

Having met the OP a few years ago....
If I'd known he had that in the garage at home, I'd have asked for a demo ! LOL.
Mine has been in a shed for the last year, I'm dieseasel Golf powered to get to and from work, but by next year she'll be back if things work out this year.
So long as Moley will insure someone who smells of diesel
dunx
P.S. Bangernomics is the place to be ! 50+ mpg today on a run across the Pennines to Manc. He won't miss the Scoob with a Cossie to fall back on...
