Default Traded the Impreza in for a Kia Rio

The 2006 WRX is going on Tuesday and to replace it, is a brand new 2013 Kia Rio crdi.

Bought from car people Sheffield. Traded the Impreza in for 4600, the Kia was up at 12000.

Money is not an issue, its make no sense running a scooby anymore, as the sums below show.

Impreza
tax...506
insurance.... 750
petrol 12 months... 2000

Total 3256

Kia
tax.... 20
insurance...... 300
diesel 12 months....800

Total 1120

Total saving 2136

Your choice but I think you might regret it. I have my bugeye and a Renault Scenic, I like you think at times it would be better to sell the Scooby. Yes insurance, tax and MOT equates to about £1100 a year and the car is parked in the garage mostly. But the fun factor and enjoyment I get taking the scooby out makes me realise I would miss her loads. Now if there was a kit to fit Scooby running gear to a Renault scenic I would be like a dog with two ......!

Know where you are coming from but (imo) owning a Subaru is not a simple matter of economics.

I too have a Kia Rio & although I find it a great run about I'd rather end it all now than swap it for my Scooby.

Crikey that's one extreme to another.

Quite like the new Kia Sportage actually but not as a replacement for the Scooby - I just keep adding cars as I'm not very good at parting with them .... currently there's 5 in the garage, not mentioning the other toys.

Think you'll miss the Scooby but you can always buy another later on once you've got the "sensible thing" out of your system

Although still missing selling my 4th Impreza, today's run to Milton Keynes and back was a good example of why I went derv.

62mpg was nice and I still have the low down poke for swift town driving over a gutless 2/3 cylinder petrol.

You might also want to factor depreciation into your costs

The amount you'll loose this year on the Kia will buy you the Impreza.
Just stating you didn't include that in your costs.

Your Impreza might loose £500-£1000 value this year, the Kia nearer £5000

I would have thought an 06 wrx has already suffered most of its depreciation compared to a 12k Kia. Each to their own i suppose but i'd rather walk than drive a Kia

What power were you running to get 20mpg in a WRX?

Haha this is sooo funny, imagine trading a Scooby for a bloody Kia, tut tut, dear oh dear, some people are just not wired up correctly.

Best thing to do with the car when u pick it up is take it straight to a waste bit of land and set fire to the ******!!

Funniest thing ive seen for a long time, swapping a Scooby for a silly Kia!

They do look quite nice now but a friend of mine bought the sportage and its falling apart. This 7 year warranty appears to be as much used as subaru's warranty from what i gather.

Depreciation will be heavy - as it is with any new car. If you want a newish car, IMO is always best to buy a car at 2yrs old and sell at 4yrs old - the money that you lose will be minimal.

When you have a car that can do good MPG I find that you really try to see just how high you can get the mpg. Granted you won't be going fast in your new car, but you'll enjoy passing more petrol stations between fill ups than you did in your old car.
