What level Rio, please say 3 ? ISG ?

70MPG is a no-go, we get alot of complaint regarding this. The figures stamped on a new car are goverment standard figures and not actual real figures, you can expect very high 50's/60's though on a run.

We dont have that many issues with these upto now, the 1.1CRDi DOES NOT get its oil changed on first service mind, be warned! Also, there is a SVC action for drive belt tension incorrectly adjusted so make sure this is done before leaving workshop.

I didn't read the entire thread, but if money isn't the issue why are you posting all the figures?

Money is obviously the issue which makes a Subaru the wrong car for you.

I have owned the wrx for six years. Yes the scooby is better built than the Kia, Yes the scooby is an all round better drivers car.

But thanks to the government they are pushing cars like the Impreza to extinction, with fuel and tax.

For me, I have decided to jump ship ( or maybe pushed ) On a personal level its just not for me anymore.

I totally understand why people would want to keep on running one.

Your mental, so you want to save money, so you spend £12k on a new car that will lose more than half it's value in 2yrs and will need main dealer services for 7yrs.

Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Rich has it bang on. I sold my impreza to save money whilst there is only one wage coming into my household. I'd rather spend my bit of expendable cash on my family for a bit until my son goes to school and Mrs gets back into part/fulltime work. I'm not ashamed to say it but the OP seems a little PSLewis 'loadsa monies but not spending it' type post

I can see you point, but the Kia has cost you £7400 more than the Scooby, so it will take 3.5 years before you break even, and your driving a Kia!

Even longer when you factor in the cost of main dealer servicing to maintain warranty, and that's before the 70% depreciation.

Kia rio at £12000 new.
How much do you think it'll be worth at a year old ?????

7, maybe 8 grand if your very lucky. Yep, great financial sense there fella...lol..

What you should of done is sell your impreza privately and then bought something at a year or two old that has already lost most of its value.

Money is not an issue, its make no sense running a scooby anymore, as the sums below show.

petrol 12 months... 2000

Total 3256

Kia
tax.... 20

It's similar maths to somebody who seriously asked me if I could fit a gas conversion to his 1956 V8 Chevrolet.
When I said "WHY THE HELL do you want to vandalise your car in that way?" he said he wanted to save on the fuel bills!
I asked him how many miles a year he drove in it. (1200 tops!)
I then worked out it would take him ten years to pay for it, and he'd have a ruined car at the end of it.
Sometimes we have choices in life, for example between taking out that dodgy blonde who is going to take all your money but leave you completely satisfied, or plumping for safety with the mousey girl from the chippy.
You choose!

Not taking the depreciation into account? or just ignoring it?

I don't get this selling up if money is not a worry especially when your sums don't even add up. I would rather enjoy my cars now whilst they are still affordable than sell up for a boring korean eco box

The Impreza needs a new clutch, cam belt changing, 4 new tyres and servicing/mot.

How much to do all that 1000 to 1500??????

Yep but there just running costs and not 12k worth.

Any car you choose to buy will have costs that you havent factored into your sums.

Dont get me wrong i couldnt afford to run my scooby as an every day car

You've just said above that the future is MPG not BHP, so if you're going to show us a supercar that'll completely contradict your point.

This post is so ridiculous. The OP clearly has not thought this through enough. The dealer must have been chomping at the bit! You have, without realising it or admitting it, just ended up spending more money in the long run no matter how you look at it. Whether you want to admit that is another matter but good luck, you are gonna need it pal with decisions like this. Change your driving style, not your car! And please post back when you come to sell the car in the future, if you can stomach the depreciation! And the whole thing about the second car... well
