old scoobies v modern day cars
it feels a lot different to a uk car i thought but personally i dont like twin scroll as you dont get the subaru noise (burble)
the power is delivered in an evo sort of way on a twin scroll.
all the differences add up though and out the box its one of the best sti cars no doubt.
Let me say how it is for me .
I have owned and driven min 250+ subaru's easy.

spec c
And everthing else you say ive owned,Now this is to show for me a lightweight spec c is in a whole different class,Its not just light weight, twin scroll ect ect,It's simpley in its own league. This is the only car iv'e owned over 12 months and will never sell.
The loss of burble i have lost gets replaced bye a the whinning of a twin scroll turbo and my wastegate pressure hyabussa sound in a 1350kg rocket ship =B053
Spec c or a spec c ra is the car to have tell me any other better and ill be asking you why

on the spec c theme, anyone know why the cross member is there in the first place on stis, its fecking heavy and when i removed mine the car felt exactly the same.
i assume it does nothing to the handling or it would be there on spec cs

i did see it drive into the meet yesterday at clock warehouse, **** me thats a big spoiler
Seriously though, There might not look to be a big difference but after driving a few scoobs in my time, I have not driven one like it even a modded one for handling and power delivery, Not sure if the bottom arms were different too...Apparently they sit an inch further forward than the standard ones, Not confirmed it though,
Any one want to measure from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the bumper?

Blinking flip this thread has turned into a right bun fight.
At the start of it you had a lot of owners saying how in relative terms that the UK Turbo 2000 wasn't really a quick car in today's market, that I could accept as it was in essence a watered down WRX.
Now it would appear that we have classic vs newage, WRX vs STi models plus UK and JDM variants thrown in for good measure.
Makes we wish I'd bought an Evo, then I could look down on everyone.

See you at Oulton Park
Gaz, Fud.....with the differences being so little, I can't my my head around what makes it "superior" over the normal still.
Yes it did Jay, aswell as the `U` frame, The early Spec-C RA(Bug) didnt have the `U` frame but both have front/rear bumper crash bars...Albeit lighter than the UK equivalent.
You cant put it down to a `thing` i find its just a collection of all the little things that make the difference and obviously exclusivity to an extent and the fact they are a lot more tunable from standard form, Who would have thought you could get 400Lbft out of a standard 2.0l with standard turbo fitted with just an exhaust and remap.

Loved my ver3 typeR (one of the best classics imho apart from my S201 which is the ultimate)
Newage Spec C is in a different league (on track/fast road) compared to any Subaru I have owned or driven, its hard to explain, it just feels more nimble and almost 'go karty'
(Think I-phone 3 vs I-phone 5)
Crazy thing is I prefer driving my bog standard UK Turbo2000 wagon everyday, its a pleasure to drive, nippy, nice ride, and not to loud

Ive owned lots of scoob STI over the years. Only one was a newage WRX, it was std with PPP. No way on earth would i dare class it as a performance car. UK 2000 lacks performance in a similar way.
It was crap on the twisties and had terrible brakes = Poor performance.
Right im off the the hairdressers
