Thumbs up

I am not going to have a go at any of you for expressing your honest opinions!

I am actually genuinely, very interested on whether or not this does make an impact on your shopping habits

Keep going, thank you very much to the people who have replied so far

Michelle.

I will however boycott any establishment that actively refuses to employ disabled, black, white, gay, FRENCH people.

Not 100% sure about the French thing

I don't give a ****. If somebody can do a job, then fine, if they can't, sack em.
Does it really matter if they've got 3 arms and two heads? I go to buy things in a shop, not look at what staff they employ.

Cool

Couldn't agree more, Qwerty. As JohnF already said, if shops actually behaved properly in the first place, and weren't so bloody bigoted, we wouldn't need to be having this discussion.

I wouldn't shop at Safeway though, regardless of who they did or didn't employ. I prefer M&S or Sainsburys - or whereever possible Waitrose is the best.

Edited to remove offensive comment.

And this thread is now in the correct place, which is where it should have been in the first place

I buy my food where I can get the best food, for the best price and in the best location to my house. Not bothered about the staff, although most companies now have equal oppourtunities for all, which I agree with. Nobody should be discrimitated against; except car thieves.

I am confused where I should shop, my bro who isnt special has worked at all of them, him being a career minded chap. He's now at NTL !!!

It would be happy to be served by Michelle sister as I am sure she would be a damn site more helpful that most of the miserable little goyts that work at our local Tescos, they look at you like theyve trod in something, thats when they have finished their conversation regarding supermarket sexual politics.

They are however infinitely better than the pond life that serve in most sports shops.

I've been thinking about this and what is it that makes companies discriminate against disabled people ??

Is it becasue they don't think that the disabled person can do the job aswell as an able bodied person

OR

Is it the way they look

I'd don't have a problem with ugly people either (I am one) and I'd shop anywhere as long as the ugly birds wore a skirts short enough to distract me from their faces

Mike

PC as ever

Chelle,
Nice to hear, I hope your sis. gets a full time Job. As to whether or not it would make a difference to where i shop....As long as the skirts are short enough !!

But in truth know it would not really effect my decision, unless they had been known for not employing people because there "special" at which point most definately !

Good Chelle's sis,

Phill

Michelle,

I may be wrong, but do you live near us? (If not ignore me!! )

If so, I work for S-O-T College, helping ALL abilities of students to secure work. If your sis has no joy with safeway, mail me and I will help her.

Hope she is succesful.

'chelle

Gotta say that if you chose to shop at Waitrose 'cos there is something about what they do [as an active company policy] that makes you prefer them, well thats up to you. Doesn't mean that I personally will go out of the way to shop there.

For instance, when I used to live in London, I used to do all my Xmas shopping in Selfridges 'cos they have a Car Park and I could get it all done in one shop & get the car cleaned too - does that mean that you'll do the same?

(PS Should Scoobynet receive revenue from all these stores and brand-names for mentions on the BBS??? - Discuss )

to answer michelles question:

It wouldn't make a difference to me. It would rather depend on the location and what the store is like, not who the store employs. (i,e modern/location)

I have a choice of 5 large supermarkets of which three are 24hour. I currently shop at Tescos as it meets my needs. In a very good area, very modern.. I like it.

This is funny,

I know this is a serious thread but I was talking to a friend of mine about this last night who has a sister with downs syndrome.

me: "didn't your sister used to work in safeway"

her: "yeah, the safeway near us a few yrs ago"

me: "ohh, thats nice"

her: "yeah, i suposse but she got sacked"

me: "why?"

her: "for sucking the jam out of all the donuts on display"

LMAO

I know but I thought it was so funny, my beer went everywhere

I agree with QUERTY.

It does not matter what the drones in the shop look like, or what their mental abilities are. Its the quality of the jam in their doughnuts that matters.
