Lordys engine bay clean up project
Got a picture of this just arrived
The horny thing and the brackets for the alternator and the other bits have now been chemically cleaned and ready to go into the
Magic tank
Getting excited now

Another few days and I will drive over to collect them

The next part
Got a nice picture of the first phase if it then the green goes on next

Lo behold
Look what Locky has done To my horny thing

A close up of the cam belt cover in candy green

Amazing how the carbon film just fills all the nooks and crannies

Lacquered to give a lovely finish

My other bits have been in for over a year and no deterioration or discolour

I was not happy woth the header tank and wanted it green and black

I wanted the car To have a green and black theme to it as part of B-SPOC we like bright colours

That's the water bottle done in a rubbery like substance which looks like soot but very durable finish and also the first in Europe to have this treatment
Locky is working on his own engine bay and both cars will be around a few shows this year

Well looking at the photos from Locky I just had to make the long drive over to collect them
Dumping the misses in Ikea to give me a bit of piece and quite and so she didn't find out the price, otherwise I would have to compensate her with even more clothes for the west wing of the wardrobe I went to meet the man himself

Finally getting them home I quickly unwrapped them to see what they were like

Rob wasn't happy woth the bare metal so Locky sprayed them lime grew to match the samco s also the header tank and that and the pas had black tops

The finish is amazing on the horny thing

A small bracket for the raditor is also coloured back to keep up with the black and green theme
The 3 pice cam belt looks amazing
Can't wait to have them fitted

Got them wrapped up and got the misses to drop them off at Stan palmers where Rob will now take over the project
Some say he can strip and engine and rebuild it quicker then I can open my wallet
Some say he is going to fit
19 lime green samco ,
2 Hellas ,
3 cdf pullies
And all these magic bits for Locky in record time
Rob is now in charge of the next part of the engine bay refit

Well the master technican Rob did a little bit to it yesterday and sent me these pictures
the red Hellas fitted
Thought about having them green but thought there was enough green allready and they matched the red strutbrace and battery terminal and a couple of red wires

I knew when i had a vision 18 months ago that candy green from Locky would look good with a splash of hold but I didn't know that it would look this good
Also we ordered new shiny bolts from Subaru as didn't want any old rusty one back on

Lots for Rob to do next
New raditor to fit as the old one was rusty and had a 2mm scratch on it
After all the Greenwagon is 14 years old
19 samcos in lime green to fit with brackets
Alternator brackets in lime green to fit
PAS tank to fit with new brackets
Header tank in B-SPOC colours to fit
The big horny thing to for
And of course the water bottle
Loads to do for Rob

Manifold assembled with all the bits attached
You just don't realise untill you study the photo how much work is involved in it

It just gets better
... Sitting at home waiting for the next photo an update

Dremmels ok but I personally like to use an old plain cotton t shirt as a rag And autosol and hard rubbing into the effected areas
Takes a long time but worth it
Took about 4 hours for the alternator but better then cutting the grass / hedges / helping her indoors

Rob had a few minutes spare yesterday so connected the Hellas up

Then when he was waiting on the kettle to boil did a bit more finishing off and oil change /service and a few other things

The good news is I can collect it on Wednesday as I'm off
7 weeks of not polishing it has been hard for me
Never mind
Misses found one of the invoices
Nag nag nag
So downstairs in house has been recarpetted to keep her indoors smiling
Oops was expensive
Make sure you hide everything from a woman

Glad I left the big pipe black to make a nice contrast

A few bits to tidy up with black paint

Candy green is amazing finish close up

I spy another bracket to paint over

Overall I'm pretty pleased with it a few little jobs to do but phase 2/3/4 will be starting over the next year or two and it will get really intersting
Keep on looking after your scoobies as there will never be any more like the old ones

With some of the work decided to do a couple of shows
Scottish show

NBO with the welsh crew

Cumbrian classic with B-SPOC

Experimenting with Anglewax good results

Pleased with the results

Even found the wicker man

Meanwhile the Nismo got left out of the garage one night

Took the wheels to the blast shop for a full renovation

Came back better then new I've had them 14 years

Matched up spokes and ready to go

When polishing I saw a little dent

So went to see another master technican

I said there was 7 dents

He said bollocks
He has special powers and found 29

You don't argue with a man with a tool box like that

Pleased with the results
