Lordys engine bay clean up project

Well after having the Greenwagon for nearly 13 years thought I had better get round to cleaning up the engine bay ,as I got tired of doing my weekly wax and polish off the rest of the car

Spent a few hours with the wife's Electric toothbrush ans autoglmns engine Cleaner ,pastiche and trim restorer and some chemical guys products

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...f3ea0da765.jpg

Treated myself to a Rallytech gold battery bracket bolts nuts and blue washers and all the polished bolts from the scoobynet group by that John Mc kindly sorted out with Ironbridge

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...eca90747e3.jpg

My mother gave me birthday money to buy a nice patterned jumper from Edinburgh woolen mill so I bought a dremmel instead and spend a few happy hours on the metal work

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...e74585f251.jpg

Still lots to do

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...2538d467a6.jpg

The misses gave me some money for my birthday for clothes so I thought a Rallytech slam panel would last longer

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps7a4c4487.jpg

Finish was great but then I took a dislike to the radiator brackets

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps0b5cc28d.jpg

Lots of dirty bits still to do and te alternator bracket was looking old and neglected

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps0b5cc28d.jpg
When polishing one day I Built up confidence to remove the fuse box holder

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...DA8EA1B0D6.jpg

Remember I'm not mechanically minded so was proud to be able to remove the alternator cover
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...DABC6857C9.jpg

Building up confidence I manged to remove the snorkel

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...DAEA941A16.jpg

And even the radiator brackets that I took a dislike too

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...DB155A3313.jpg

Then a man who I had never seen before only just seen some if his work came to NBO hq and took them away after I gave him a few pennies , times are hard :D

The man was lee or Locky who posts on scoobynet and had hydrotec customs

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...DB7F78C90E.jpg

A few days later the postman came with some cheques ,junk mail and a box
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...3BC294B248.jpg

A Locky box !!!!

Inside was these all done in candy green

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...C816775357.jpg

Fuse box is great

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...C83D24C48D.jpg

Snorkle is candy green

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...C876D8CA06.jpg

The bracket had been blasted treated and then the magic Locky treatment

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...C8974A1D41.jpg

Bit different the alternator bracket now

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...C8EEF49A9D.jpg

Then the postman came with another cheque and even more junk mail and a parcel from Thailand for those that know me I like things from Asia :D

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...39be59032c.jpg

I like my Asian products stripped and laid out flat :D
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...de39865f93.jpg

An Intercooler first one in the uk in black woth Rallytech logo on and a gold oil or is it 710 cap to match the battery bracket and gold washers as wanted gold now instead of silver washers and a couple of free gifts
Decent bloke is Ironbridge his products are first class and great prices too on the group buys

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...073f7b6969.jpg

One Snorkle in candy green with polished bolts ans gold washers

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...053f8456c0.jpg

One radiator bracket Mmm I see potential for cdf racing pullies next

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...79e5270152.jpg

I also see potential for candy green cam belt cover for Xmas

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...47c870a92e.jpg

Nice fuse box holder bit better then the black plastic

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...8f4f6b52ef.jpg

Alternator cover is a pleasure to look at and I love the gold washers too

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...f410efb3eb.jpg

Defentyl need the alternator polished and other bits powder coated now

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...235f211e76.jpg

Love the oil cap in gold

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...8bbac857eb.jpg

Now I must get the samco hoses in lime green now

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...af01476684.jpg

Love the Intercooler cover thanks to Ironbridge for putting his logo on for me

http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/s...95d6383c4a.jpg

A big thanks also to Rob and Martin from B-SPOC the new club with some amazing motors for giving me the vision and confidence to open my normally sealed wallet too

Not don't too bad up north

Getting ready to going live soon for NBO 11

Hard to believe its 11 years since we had that daft idea
20 from Cumbrian scoobs and 30 from the Tynetees scoobies and we might get a dozen Yorkshire men too
Stressed me out when 400 scoobies turned up :D

We pretty well organised now

JonMc 20 February 2013 07:13 PM

Looks good, the only problem i've found engines is there's always something else to do:D

X70cky 20 February 2013 07:14 PM

John the engine bay is coming in nicely if I do say so my self :) just keeping a simple colour pattern of black n candy green with a hint of gold stands proud, enjoying watching it unfold and seeing my work in its rightful place,

1 thing when you say headers? I think I was saying to you about getting the inlet manifold dipped and finished in the candy green carbon, now that with the header tank ect freshly powder coated would really make this engine bay stand out!....keep up the vision of your bay and I will serve ;)

Locky@hydrotek

rob84 20 February 2013 07:16 PM

Looking great John.

rob84 20 February 2013 07:17 PM

Like I mentioned on BSPOC John, If you want some of the more intricate parts done but dont have the confidence to remove them I'm more than happy to assist in that department

You were one of the famous dozen that sat around the fireplace when I told you the daft vison the week before I told my counterparts in the cumbrin scoobs
I remember we had a poll and we changed the date as four of were working so we picked a date that the rest of is could come on
We didn't even have a field at that stage to someone suggested LV might let us park a few cars on the overflow car park
Someone had a bucket for cash and a book of raffle tickets and I had an old Trophey lying around at home
They were the days crisis management at its finest

Revolution or RCM for the hoses ? Or ask Alyn at as performance if he can source them.
