Like that Cusco underbrace, unusual

Same thing happened with the old ball joints on mine last week, came off in the vice after a lot of faffing! Dont know why Hardrace dont just have their own on it rather than reuse the old ones?

Very true regarding car being too stiff which can cause unyielding understeer, happened to a couple of 22b.com guys at Coughborough a couple of weeks ago with its very tight turns.

So i thought i wont be going more power soon.............. Had a play with a new M3 on the way back from the gym today.... And it showed me it's heels.....

1st thing i've noticed was the low down grunt it had straight after we moved beemer went, when mine took time till 3.4k rpm to spool up till then it was dead.. It receded slowly after i got the boost back but was too late...























MD321T Billet me thinks ...

Got some good choice mods going on there mantazini.
Glad to see your not going all out for power straight away like some do.

Pity I'm not doing Caldwell with you guys as I'm at snetterton on Sunday instead but will try my best to make the next one.

Fair play you have to weigh up all the factors and make an informed choice based on what you want from it and what the pocket will allow.

Default Cadwell Park 17/3/13

So we had an amazing weekend With MSOC gang @ Cadwell park... Nevertheless the weather was poor, that means slipoery track conditions, that made me work much more and get the idea how the bug behaves.... The biggest mistake i've done on the day was that i haven;t used my re070s on the 1st half of the day which was dry ..... The Pirellis i had were old and to hard to stick enough but it gave me good fun , to work on every single corner , most of them were with abit of lock and wheelspin ...
Overall i'm happy with the balance of the car, lacked a bit of more negative camber, maybe 1 setting harder on the rear ARB , but it was pooring down the rain, so no chance i could be bothered to lay under a car and udjust that,,,,
From the vids i've done which were poor , camera ponted to low , the best lap i could manage with them **** tyres was 1.55.... So i realised that it's just worth exploring the car instead of chassing lap times and so i did....
Going back to power subject..... It's staying as it is , was quick enough for this kind of circuit, 50-100 bhp + cars didnt had enough of gap to lose me...Except Petes which didnt either on the straights (thought he did shift @5.5k?? i did @6K -7K sometimes) but he was balistic on the bends, no chance for me... I supouse i'd rather concentrate to fine tune my suspension rather than going for bigger power.....
One thing i've noticed was a blue smoke comming after a propper run, that indicates that i'll have to get an OIL CATCH CAN which is a necesarry mod for track work....
Otherweis car held the pressure fine, brakes were fine for 15 mins , oil temp came up to 110-114 in same time , tyres didnt had a chance to overheat because of the conditions but hey, i think so far so good , oh forgot , no fuel surge @ Half tank either . I think my understanding of the tune stage was approved as everything worked well together , no overkill on any of the mods... Everything "faded" ' simillar time , brakes , fluid temperatures etc., made me come to cool daown all at once which i'm very pleased to....
Some action...




Another downside of car being a hard work were tired shocks, the rear ones now ****ted themselves , grease comming out of them , but i guess it's just another excuse to get a replacement... Searching for the options and deciding what to go for i've decided to go for KYB Ultra SRs as they retain the normal comfy ride but are good for little sprints ocasional track days to.... I know, track work you'd need coilovers but i'm 80% on the road than a track and need the suspension to deal with all the everyday goodies , pot holes , bumps and other stuff. Coilover strut travel is not long enough for these roads and will give me bumpy ride where shocks wont , so ATM with all my other goodies and this kind of power the KYBs will be ideal... Their damping is something like 30% stiffer than oem sti shocks which is really nice as well.....
I'm not sure when i'll be able to make another track day but hopefully this year sometime after August, hopefully it will be another cracking weekend .

Climate change aye , i'm wondering how some of MSOC will do cadwell next month , probably will have to use chains and such.... On a serious note, i think i'll manage to make another track experience sometime in 3 months.. Got suspension in, just searching wha toil catch can i should get. I got something on my mind. It has to be baffled , so reading the reviews OBP one looks decent ... Any sugestions maybe? CDF are making one ATM , but i'm not sure ....
Another mod i might be going for is Ricky's group buy on 2 piece brake discs , Their based in US and used by Porsche and other car enthusiasts also some racing teams... The have diferent reviews , but so far i can gather is their as good as PF discs but fairly cheaper in this case, just need to get the prices for the replacement ones without the bells... I know everyone would sugest AP's , but just not yet, i'd like to keep oem look and if they'll work as far as other factors i'm happy.... PS one of the reasons i want to keep brembos is that they fit under 17's , going AP kit would mean gaining track time, endurance, which my car is not capabe of doing ATM , 355mm kit is the one to go for and that means i would need 18's... I love my 17's , car is more chuckable , more responsive to the steering imputs , probably less stable at higher speeds but more fun to work on.....

Yesterday has been quite a productive day, was in a mood so decided to swap my shocks...4.5 hrs it took me , but it's all fun as i'm doing it for me self.



Even geometry is off , the car felt so much better, stiffer with the new items but still absoarbing the bumps and other unevennesses on the "perfect" british roads ...

I'm suprised by the rocket speed service by Apex guys , bought couple things from them but yesterdays one was amazing. 16.16 just before i set off to me mates garage for damper change i ordered the last set of Hard Race engine/gearbox mount kit , the chap i spoke to said he will try to get it posted yesterday and by my suprise it arrived today morning. Thats what i call a service , great price and super fast delivery . I really appreciate it for this one.

Love the new blinging parts mate & good to see your fitting it yourself

Agree with what your saying about the increased total costs with going for big brake AP's etc. The actual cost of the calipers/discs, fitting & then going to 18" wheels for track means a big jump in track tyres costs alone from 17"s to 18"s. I think at our power levels, a good fully floating 2 piece disc & proper pads with braided lines & dot4/5 fluid is the way fwd. Add to this reduced weight transfer / shift to nose, - due to uprated engine mounts, stiffer uprated suspension, ARB's & less unsprung weight with JDM forged 17" wheels etc, all helps with overall braking.

18" Federal 595 RSR's are approx £128 per tyre from e.g Camskill.
17" Bridgestone RE070's are new @ £82 & regularly come up on Scoobynet /Ebay for approx £60 per tyre. Even the Federal RSR's are £95 new in 17"

Just couldn't resist it.......

Got hold of a genuine AFP TD05 20G of Matty@Pole position , Perfect power wise, not overpushing as still on the stock engine.... It's an older version of it non billet, so i'm getting it overhauling and thrust beering changed. Hopefully will be like brand spanking new Billet 20g ... Pics to follow....

Not just yet Jon, The front mount hype is huge i know , but i'm following Felsteads and Shauns thread were it tells you exactly when you need a front mount and it's past over 400+

True the STI TMIC will run over 400bhp, but it does suffer heat soak when stationary or in slow moving traffic. Does yours have the water spray, if not it's probably worth investing in that.

Well this is the thing with an sti top mount i've got now. It's eficient enough at this power stage also i've got an Auto I/C spray an manual as well , plus i drive the car only for blasts recently don't use it as a every day comute so heat soak is not a big issue....

Although it's not nescessary ATM what you are saying is very true. And i'm always watching whats on the market . The case is the only FMIC i'd go for would be Hyperflow,Perrin,APS but their not cheap so i'm just waiting the one to come for the right money... I'm not a big fan of HDI and other "small" coolers...I think my top mount is as good...

The moding bug is taking over so fast i just cant stop , sale section ...moderators need to ban me from there for some time, lol.. Some more good stuff poped out so i just had to get it.... CP5200 AP's...discs will need some tlc thought, bought new DS2500 from Alyn@ASperfomance with them as well...



Was browsing flebay today and thought i'll type in Fujitsubo Legalis Super R as had a conversation with Julia recently about my exhaust sound in the back of the car, as much as i love it but for my little Daniela it is to loud unfortunately so i gave it a go and bought my good ol' the only one i really was praising Legalis Super R, i had it on my whitle, silver classics and it was awesome sound ....nice and quiet on sensible speeds and loudish when flooring.... My current one Fujitsubo power Getter is going to be up for sale ...It made 95db on Cadwell Park so not that very crazy but it makes some "bass" in the back of the car on a tick over ..... Everything is comming along nicely so far ...just need the time to fit all that now....
