Had a change of heart now and I'm going to give the Nexus 7 a try. If I don't like it, I'll sell it and think about a Ipad Mini 2 when it comes out in march.
For the last month I have been using my HTC One X+ for internet browsing whilst the mrs uses the netbook. So if that works ok, it seems daft to ignore the Nexus 7.
Will order one tonight and see how I get on.

What surprised me was how much more useful a browsing device the N7 was over my Gnex. Like you, I ummed and ahhed about getting an N7 as I wasn't sure if it would be big enough, but I can confirm it's absolutely spot-on perfect. It's an excellent size for Vice City on the train without elbowing my neighbours.
I personally bought the 3G model as I'm too lazy to tether, and have a £7.50/m for 1GB package from Three.

I know that the Nexus 7 would work with everything. I fear that being my only Apple device, the iPad would be rather restrictive.

32 gig mini is perfect, I bought one as it has all the best bits of a new ipad except screen res and cpu speed. Its small enough to fit into my wifes bag if we go out and has enough storage to get most of the games on you want to play. My wife has the normal sized ipad and they are just too heavy for my liking plus she can't fit hers in her bag

I'm worse than a woman. Woke up this morning feeling certain that I will buy an iPad mini......now I can't bring myself to press the 'buy' button.
Must be something to do with me being a tight git!

Yeah, who needs something you hold and look at all the time to look and feel good?? Suckers. And... PC's should be Putty coloured and and in a noisy square box damn it. What a bunch of fruit ponsies.

We already did that one last year, yes it can, do a search and watch Mr Burns squirm. I was playing a game on the plane last night and an alarm went off! Was it voodoo? I switched to the awesome alarm clock, switched back to Need for Speed and carried on drifting.
