I am so, so sorry - I'm considering an Ipad!

Nexus 7 is just too small for my liking and the Nexus 10 is too close to the iPad price wise.
Question is if I go for a 32gb Mini or 16gb 4th Gen iPad. I was quite impressed with the mini. The .9 of an inch made all the difference!

Hmmm. :thumb:

Tried a galaxy tab 10?
Screen resolution is noticeably smaller, but price wise good value.

Gear Head 11 February 2013 08:32 AM

To be honest, any Samsung device I have had/tried in the past has dissappointed me.
Plus I didn't like the look or feel of the Galaxy Tab I looked at yesterday.
I have always thought that the iPad is the only Apple pruduct that I would consider.
Had a play with quite a few now and have always been impressed.
If they were a lot more expensive that the competition, then I wouldn't bother, but it seems that other manufacturers are trying to price their product along side Apple. The Nexus 10 is silly money for what it is.
May be they are trying to actually make some profit on this one! :D

I got my galaxy note 10.1 for £318 less £50 cashback from samsung and £33 worth of tesco club card points (bonus 1000 points from a code plus the 318 for the unit) making my device £235 oh quidco tracked at about £10 but dont think it will go through as I collected instore.

Very happy with it quad core . 2 gig of ram and a clever pen and its 10"

I know what you mean about the nexus 7 its just too small IMO

Has the galaxy tab got the capability to play sky go yet? As when I set one up for one of my work colleagues we went to download sky go but it was not compatible with that version :cuckoo:

To be honest, that's the other reason why I am keen on the iPad.
You know that is will be supported.

I just find the iPad to be the best tablet out there at the moment for all round use.

I'm not a massive apple follower, but I must be honest out of all the tablets I have used and looked at for myself then the apple for me meets most of if not all of my requirements, I use my phone alot for the Internet and watch alot of sky player on it which is too small for the purpose, and when there is something on I like to watch its a battle between me and the mrs as to what is going on the box :lol1: so for me having the ease of watching it on the i pad is great, I can link my laptop up to the tv to stream it, but by the time I piss about powering up, plugging it all in, connecting it to the surround in my spare room can be a right pita.

I would consider another tablet but after reading alot of things with the android systems and them not being able to offer the same services as apple with support for different packages then I too would say an Ipad Is better suited to my needs I must be honest, most of it probably boils down to the service your wanting to use, I.E sky go, its sky that are technically stopping you from watching their service on the galaxy tab, sky an apple seem to be as one :lol1: every time you watch sky news, sports etc they are always on apple products, so this is one of the main reasons for me heading towards apple products, purely because they are dominating the market and seem to have the services I want to use such as sky go, it may only be one package but when you use that package alot then its easier to make a decision IMO, plus the fact they are so simple to use with the way they are set out its easy to see how they sell so many tbh

Galifrey 11 February 2013 10:10 AM

I have sky go on my Galaxy Note 2, see no reason why they wouldn't support the galaxy tab 10.1 as it already supports the 7.0.

It wasn't listed as supporting my old Galaxy S Advance, but worked perfectly anyway.

However, sounds like you have already made your mind up and are looking for vindication of your choice, so go enjoy your ipad ;)

I tried to install skygo around 2 / 3 weeks ago iirc on the 10.1 and it would not even let me download it, I found that easy enough to use tbh it just can't offer me what I want to use it for :lol1:

http://static.mobile.sky.com/skygoandroid/skygo3.0.apk download from there

Also the Galaxy note 10.1 is better than the galaxy tab 10.1 imho, and is available in wifi version for £299 or less.

I shall give that a go for her and shall see how it gets on, cheers for the link :thumb:

Where is that? I can only find them for £399.

urban 11 February 2013 10:52 AM

What's the difference between the tab and the note?

As for the price, I think Samsung put all their prices up.
You used to be able to get the tab 10.1 for £239 less £50 cashback prior to Christmas

Just get a iPad and have done with it. At least you'll know it'll be worth something when it comes to selling

Have thought about that. Apple has clearly held back by not offering a retina display on the mini. As soon as the mini 2 comes out, probably at the same price as the current model, the old mini's will be worthless!

Ant 11 February 2013 12:16 PM

But you don't like the nexus because of size so why look at a mini? So get a iPad?

Like I said earlier, I was amazed at how much more usable the Mini appeared than the 7.
But, I think you are right. 16gb will do me though.

Don't worry Ant, not everyone can be as big as me! :D

Evolution Stu 11 February 2013 12:43 PM

iPad all the way, got the kids a Nexus, its just not as good somehow.

Ant 11 February 2013 12:55 PM

You don't want to trade a nexus for humax freeview HD recorder ;) need a tablet for my 2 year old

Ant 11 February 2013 01:00 PM

Ha I genuinely do she loves talking tomcat I can't get on it

Gear Head 11 February 2013 01:28 PM

The thing is, I can see our little man loving the tablet but I can also see him trying to chew it!

boxst 11 February 2013 01:34 PM

I have an iPad 3 and my daughter an iPad Mini. I actually prefer the Mini as it seems about the right size to carry around and quickly play with to find something.

I will probably sell my iPad and buy a mini as I'm travelling around again quite a bit in the near future.
