I am not sure about all this IQ lark, I mean someone could be really clever in one subject but have no questions about it in the IQ test making them thick ;-)

IQ tests are not about being 'clever' in 'subjects'. They test your brains cognitive reasoning, problem solving and adaptability. They also usually test speed (timed) which I find to be my personal weakness - I also fee with less time pressure I could do better.

Which means in a proper MENSA one you'll score about 120... hope that helps

Maybe yes and maybe no, as it's the first time i've ever done one I wasn't sure what to expect, but having done it now i'm sure i'd do better next time.

I think it's like most things, the more practice and preparation the better the out come.

Go for it, do a proper controlled Mensa test - their site has all the details. If you score over 130 you're in

I had a high IQ as a kid, I doubt I sustained it though!

F1. I'm now advised to use the term atypical.

I still prefer abnormal though.

Must invest some time to nail down the difference between the two terms.

Not interested, as my ego has long since evaporated into the ether and ceased to exist.

I like to think my mind operates on a much higher level than could be measured by a few pictures and questions devised by a bunch of reciprocating intellectuals.

I took a Mensa test some years ago and, despite having dyscalculia, scored highly enough to get in. Then I looked at the membership fees and realised the smartest people are the ones who don't need to pay to join a club to prove how smart they are

Sorry if I came across as critical as I didn't mean to, I just meant that most of these online tests are not true recognised IQ tests and statistically people score a good bit less on the genuine ones than on the online ones. I did a lot of reading about them a few years ago as I think they are flawed although a lot of clever people say they aren't.
