No you dont praise apple, you force it on people, mucho difference Jack,
Apple are far from perfect, especially their devices, they make a great device for someone who doesnt want to do anything out of the narrow corridor they offer, and their phones are far from the best (they do suffer bad signal issues, the 5 is better but still lacks against the competition), you could say they changed the face of things but that wouldnt be entirely true, other companies did that but Apple did the same and advertised it.
Best one to date is the apple advert saying how they give you better quality voice in noisy backgrounds, been around since 2g started on phones, pretty much every phone does that by picking out the voice algarythm and killing the background noise (mainly down to bandwidth issues), but apple advertise that which is their forte.

"Pretty much every phone does that" "down to bandwidth" you obviously don't understand the technology involved.

I don't force anything on anyone, all I do is counter the ant-apple brigade. It's the Samdroid users like yourself that can't accept that Apple make great products.

Just updated my Old GT-I9070 to Jellybean and that has convinced me not to get an Iphone 5 on 3rd of Feb upgrade day, might go with a Galaxy Note 2 actually.

I lolled at both you have no idea of the technology Jack or you would understand about the bandwidth and how much voice takes up.

Tony, think Bose noise cancelling headphones, the iPhone 5 has an extra microphone that listens to the external noise then replays the opposite waveform to cancel that noise. What makes you think that has something to do with Bandwidth and 2G is beyond me. Now off you trot for a few months, I know how you like to disappear after being called out, this will be the forth time now.

You fell for the apple bullsh1t, sucker and it has everything to do with bandwidth, go find out the bandwidth of voice and you may start learning a few things

Well duh, voice only without background noise uses far less bandwidth allowing more efficient use of cellular digital data (which is data and hence bandwidth).

It is staggering he talks about technology when he doesn't even grasp the basics...

Here some more education for you

"It’s designed with three microphones: one on the front, one on the back, and one on the bottom. The front and back mics work together to achieve beamforming — a technique that helps iPhone focus on sound from the desired location for clearer audio. New noise-canceling technology reduces background noise. So when you hold iPhone up to your ear in a loud room, you hear what matters most: the voice on the other end."

Now, unless you can provide evidence to the contrary I suggest you leave the forum for a few 'month'

Multi microphone to speaker noise cancelling was patented back as far as the 1930's and has been used in aircraft as far back as the 1950's that patent will be unlikely to hold up under challenge like so many of Apples retro-patents unless someone copies Apples technology exactly, which is unlikely as there are so many systems out there.

So this system is just for noise in the locality of the recipient which again has been in use for many many years, and another patent that would be easily overturned by the likes of Bose and Harmon Kardon who worked with Lotus on fitting it to cars very successfully.

It is another clear example of Apple trying to patent something by attaching the patent to mobile phone technology, it simply won't stand up under scrutiny.

Apple are the masters of stealing ideas and claiming them for themselves

And anyway, it clearly hasn't helped their share price

I knew that would rock your boat. I'll also take it as an apology for doubting my technical knowledge, it's easy to fall into one of Tony's traps, you're forgiven.

Actually $799. A Samsung rip off thing is £400 with only 16gb, 128gb would be about £2000.

Don't worry Jack, if you get potted from Apple you will get a job at Nokia or Samsung because they are on the up.

All this Apple vs Android really is a load of guff, why won't people realise that both OS's offer different users exactly what they want/need.

If I was in the market for a simple to understand user friendly smartphone I would have another Iphone. For me I prefer the customisation I can do under an Android phone so that is what I have. I always feel slightly envious of the iphones resale values, but that is the price I pay for my choice of versatility.

I do rather chuckle at my 16 year old daughter trying to remove the battery from my old 3g though. She was told she needed to do that to reset the phone memory back to stock and totally destroyed the phone trying to follow the advice, lmao.

Yes it is a load of guff, you can't even mention Apple without someone insinuating that Android is better. At least when I used to say the iPhone was better than Blackberry I was telling the truth.

True, but lets be fair both are better than each other for a certain user. This whole "my xxx is better than your xxx" started with the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 and is really just buyers trying to justify their choice which they really do not need to do as at the end of the day, who really cares.

I used to have windows CE devices and Iphones blow them out of the water!

Apple stores are the dogs doodahs, I really wish Samsung would do something similar, but not gonna happen.

My issue with Apple has never been about the products or marketing, just the whole patent thing, and many are just as bad. Dyson are a notable exception who got ripped off left right and centre, probably due to the stupid price point they set which left them way open to cheaper copies.

My phone can make phone calls, send texts, do a bit of surfing, wake me in the morning and remind me of appointments.

Could be any of them really.

Meanwhile, I have a life......

Galifrey has pretty much already pissed on this bonfire its an old patent but apple just keep on bluffing you Jack and you keep on falling for it

So, this is really easy, speech has a frequency, amazing really as its sound, off the top of my head its something like 300-330mhz but I would have to confirm this.
So what you do is you do something called filtering, you know the frequency you want and everything else you filter out so all you get is mainly speech, bloody good really

Now as for the 3 microphones that Apple say you get better noise reduction in a noisy room, they are really good, shame it doesnt work quite like that though
The thing is, is that if its not coming through the headset you can do nothing about the background noise, so if you are in a loud room its still going to be loud where you are, the new patent that apple have come up with to counter this is called "the finger", and what you do is when you get a call, put the phone to one ear and put the finger in the other, it really reduces background noise, even better than 3 mic's

You really should go into an electronics store and try some active noise reducing headphones, I have a set of Bose that are fantastic on planes, like an upgrade every flight.

I'll explain briefly how it works, its nothing like you mention, that's some cheap *** version that you probably do find on cheap *** phones. Sound is a wave, we all know that, now if you listen to background noise using the third mike and you have the technology you just play the opposite of that sound wave into the speaker and the background noise is cancelled. There's a down side to this, although you can't really hear it the noise is there and by playing the opposite it's twice as loud, put on my headphones and you might notice a 'pressure' iPhone 5 users are reporting this 'pressure' and some don't like it.

I'd like to put it to the vote, does Tony know better than Bose and Apple or is he just plain wrong?

We have an iPad 2 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The Tab was was £238 with £50 cashback from Samsung. The iPad was £400 from Apple.

Is the iPad a better machine? Yes. Is it a more asthetically pleasing piece of hardware? Yes. Is it worth double the price? Absolutely not.

I find I use the Tab more now simply because the wireless performance is so much better (I find wireless on all our IOS devices to be quite poor actually).

As soomeone who has a plethora of SD cards due to photography and video, it just makes more sense to be able to expand than have to fork out several hundred pounds to fund Tim Cook's next yacht/holiday home/super car
