WANTED: 2003-2005 WRX STI
#62
What age bracket are you?
I'm 21. Haha. They'll insure me on a Blob STI standard for 1k. A WR1 for 950 and an RB320 for 850. They won't insure me on a PPP at all and if I add anything bar non-standard alloys and an exhaust, they won't insure me then either.
Would make sense if they refused to quote for the special editions too! Same power/more?!
Anyway, I haven't tried the specialists but last time they refused to quote until I was over 25.

Arkynsei. I'm 20. With REIS, I can get insured on the 93 import, with mods, for 700 a year. If I have my Mazda estate as a primary vehicle.
Im being quoted 7k for an 03 STI So just going to have to wait. My other idea was to insure the Mazda with Co-op as they have a policy letting you drive anyone's car on their say so and just pay my Dad what it would cost him to insure the STI. Then drive it when I feel like it.

Might be worth trying them then.. I'll give it a go. I was quoted an insane price when I was 20.. when I turned 21 (on my birthday) they quoted 2300 and 4 weeks later I got a quote for 1k. Swear they just pluck figures from the air!

Mine is insured as a modified track day car but the policy lets you drive it to and from the track and to general places in between. Had to give evidence to show it was a track car i.e. A subscription for a certain amount of track days or something like that.

How much were you looking for mate?
Also do you have the original IC?
I could do that, but I'd have to factor in the cost of a remap too. Can you remind me of the miles as well? Did look a lovely car!
For the right price, I'm all ears .
Cheers

I know! Absolutely ridiculous. They all seem massively far away (I'll go far, but from the South of England, the north of Scotland is only worthy of a stunner of a car)
or they're hilariously overpriced.
Or most of them seem to have a billion owners or missing service history. Getting impatient I'll be honest! Someone sell me their car .

You will get a Blob Eye wide track for under £7k, although perhaps not a modded one. The chance to play with the diff, slightly nicer dash and what not make it worth holding out for IMO.

Agreed, where the heck are you looking? I'm not fussed about DCCD or slightly nicer dash or anything. As long as it's got full service history, decent mileage and not a silly price, I'll take it. Oh and no silver, as I've said.
I'm not looking for a modified one either, want as standard as possible.
If you could point me to the standard 2005's for under 7k I'll love you long time.

Well this set me back £6,400 5 months ago. Full service history, previous owners included the owner of a Subaru dealer in Surrey and a PistonHeads member. It's not a PPP and runs stock everything pretty much (even the radio) but still ran 270bhp at last weeks rolling road
I did a lot of research in to used prices before buying this - even created an excel spreadsheet showing prices going through. Black and blue sold for a premium, as did the PPP pack.
Also, the silver looks crap in photos, but trust me it looks great in the metal.

I know it is the wrong colour and shape, but it's modern, has decent miles, has had the cambelt change and no reason why you couldn't knock £500 off asking price.

That's a good lot of research you did! Haven't seen ANY 2005 models come up for anything near that price yet, but like I said, the year doesn't bother me as long as it's a blob! . I have seen the silver ones, they're nice but they just don't quite do it for me. I'd feel like something was missing if I had one personally. But I appreciate them, a Scoob is a Scoob and they're my favourite!
Cheers for the link Romford-Boy, but that's a hawkeye with the 2.5 litre engine that isn't as reliable. Thanks for the link though.
Still looking for one! I found 2 that were perfect.. until I enquired. I would have been the 9th owner on one of them (8 previous?!) and the other was from a bankruptcy deal.. no log book, locking wheel nut, no spare wheel, No history (!) and needs tyres and paint! Another was in Abderdeed, crazy miles away. Another was 7.5k for a 2004 (!) and lived on an Island (Rusty )
Still looking then fellas. I'm really not that picky, I'm so looking forward to getting one and want one before the shows start in April (she's going to get treated like a queen!).

Why is the number of owners put you off? A lot of people buy these thinking they can afford them, then quickly find out they can't. If my car was gone, that one would be owned by ATWRX, subject to thorough inspection.

it's because my dad owns a car dealership and he thinks it's too many owners and I'll have trouble selling in the future. I'm just trusting his experience. I reaaaally want it though. Looks lovely. you guys reckon it's not a big deal? the amount of owners?

People are going through tough times. Subarus aren't cheap to run. As long as you know what to look for etc and get a test drive, see it running for a bit. Why not? I take my Dad with me when looking at cars. He will say whether he thinks it is a straight vehicle or not (from what he can see)
