WANTED: 2003-2005 WRX STI
Hey fellas,
Not a lot of activity on the Wanted forum in the way of cars.. just parts! So thought it'd be best to post it here.
I'm looking for a blob WRX STI, not fussed about the year.. but little to no modification please.
Under 60k miles and in Blue, Black or White.
Please send me details/post pictures, also a price and I'll get back to you.
Looking forward to seeing your cars! .
James

Well at least you're in Scotland and looking for a different car else we'd have a war on our hands my friend!
I'm pretty sure what we're trying to achieve is purchasing unicorns.

I have seen a couple of Imprezas problem is they are all so far away and it's getting time off to go down and view.

Where've you seen em? I look every day and night :P. Seen one at Hurst Cars but it's a tad overpriced. Couple of others too but nothing struck home with me yet! I check AutoTrader, Ebay, Motors, Exchange and Mart, Pistonheads and here on an almost bi-hourly basis (Okay, 3 times a day!) but nothing yet. I'm far too impatient to be like some of these folk who have waited 6 months.
Evo's are for sissys .

First one seems reasonable but 9 grand for the 2005 version.. although an upgrade, is it really worth an extra 2k?! I'm really going to be looking for an 03-04 to be honest, can't justify the extra price tag.
Second one looks very nice! I saw it but thought it had gone, thanks for that!
Third one, 72k miles is too many for me.
and the last one is even more miles for a lot of money.

I have a 53plate Sti that will be for sale very soon. Does have higher miles than you were after but than again it's £5k. Full history with receipts by either Api or engine tuner. Own by myself for last four years and another scoobynet member before me.

Could you send me a PM with some pictures and the exact mileage? Also any modifications?
Not my car but know it well, work in the garage where its serviced etc,

I'm seriously considering selling my 03 plate Blobeye Sti. 55k on the clock, only mods are decat turbo back exhaust, APS TMIC and some Whiteline adjustable lateral links (made a big difference to the handling). The car was recently mapped by Bob Rawle (made 343bhp - 323Ib-ft) and was transformed, far less laggy and more responsive than it was on the previous map. It's WR blue with the stock 17" gold wheels. If you're interested in having more details (asking price, service history, bodywork condition, photos etc) then I'll pm you them later when I'm at home...

hi there
not sure if you know enough about scoobies to make comment chocolate pistons , sounds like youve read more than owned .
sure like all scoobies if you rip the boost up and bang 380+ bhp power through standard pistons you'll in trouble , mainly becasue you cant afford to do the job right and forge the engine , bit like every other car on the road , including the blobeye. If you rip them to over 400bhp you'll find the piston give up , like focus RS above 385bhp , like evo avove 390bhp etc etc ..
our moto ; if you cant afford the proper job , buy something you can afford.
we have sold over 80 hawkeyes from 276 - 350bhp without a single problem ranging from 20k - 90k miles
I thinks its more about budget , but am sure you should find an older cheaper blobeye
All the best & good hunting
cheers PAUL

Does not matter if a 2.5 is running standard or modified, its a well known issue and a lucky dip to be honest, hence the reason id never touch one unless its been forged.

Hello,
I'm not going to get into anything here, as this thread isn't a Blobeye vs Hawkeye engine reliability thread but I will just take issue with your unprofessional approach to sales.
Yes, I have read more than I've owned, I've had two in my life but have read about hundreds, I'm not quite sure what you mean by that but it's come across as offensive.
Much like your comment about me not being in a place to talk about Scooby's, you are not in a place to talk about my finances. If your company's motto is "our moto ; if you cant afford the proper job , buy something you can afford." I suggest you change this immediately so not to offend your customers, I'm not looking to modify but I have read the engine is unreliable, do you suggest I factor an engine rebuild into my car purchase? Or maybe I should buy a slightly cheaper car than I won't have to worry so much about the engine crapping itself on me?
The issue with the engine is well documented, it's not just a myth. Let's also take into account this wouldn't be Subaru's first **** up in the engine department (Find me a P1 with a non-rebuilt engine for example)
So thank you for your comments, I was actually considering your 55 plate hawk until I received such a rude response, bringing my finances into the equation which are none of your business.
So back to my thread, does anyone have a blobeye that they'd like to sell? Would be well maintained and looked after with frequent servicing. I may not be as well versed in Subaru engines as chuckles up there is, but I am very much an enthusiast and am constantly learning.
Thanks all.
James
P.S. Thank you, Jay. The ringland issue is exactly what I was talking about, my jargon is still in training .
