Having driven both cars I would personally go for the Gallardo as it was much easier to drive and live with if you were using it more regularly. The F430 was a monster in comparison IMO and for 1000ish miles a year I would go for the ferrari.
Raf
p.s I actually hired them for a weekend a couple of years ago just to scratch my itch at the time - was cheaper than buying

My opinion will be different from most...... none of the two.......
I would opt for putting down anything between 5 and 10k for a year to join a super car club and try them all. You will loose more than that on depreciation and servicing costs before you even drive the other car you'd like to buy and then have the hassle selling, and being out the capital during your ownership.
I think this is a superb way of getting to know which car you would actually like to live with after throwing out that amount of money. So many people pay the money for what they deem to be their dream car, but when they actually drive it and live with it..... well ..... its further away from there dream car than they could ever have imagined. The 430's are not well built at all, have the most basic dash you can imagine, have a crap sound system..... but yes they do sound well on full song. The 458 that replaced the 430 is in a different league build wise, sound wise, handling wise, and the gear change is soo much better. As for the lambo ..... they certainly look nice, sound nice, are prone to problems (like all italian super cars), but they certainly do not feel the safest cars to drive on public roads when pushed hard. Yes they go well in a straight line on a good road, but the roads we are all used to..... they basically aren't designed for.
Ever driven a really well set up impreza with EXE-TC's or ASt's etc...... perfect designed for the Uk roads and inspire confidence when going hard. Neither of these two cars give that same feeling. But if its just a nice noise, good looks and nothing else you'd like then maybe they are a good buy !
So to summarise..... I think you might be disappointed by both, but joining a super car club for even a year is a less expensive eye opener.
I am a member of Ecurie25 super car club.... have driven most of the cars you can dream of, and if I'm being honest they is only a very small handful I would now buy had I the money.
But if you feel the urge to buy one anyway, i certainly wish you well my friend......
Oh and just remember if you have no warranty and need a clutch (for example) in your lambo or ferrari expect to pay around 6k ! Upkeep of these cars really are silly !

458 would be at the top of my list..... amazing in every way. Unbelievable sound, the sweetest gear change you could every imagine.... its simply a 'drivers' car ! nothing puts a smile on my face more than a quick run in one........
Before joining the club Lambo's would have been my dream car. Not anymore !!!! Having said that though I still like to go for a run in one, but its real nice being able to hand the keys back after you have had your fun and not worry about the rest of the costs.....thats the real attraction to a club......
Ecurie's 458 !!!!!

Sorry mate..... took you up wrong there....... being honest at 80k I wouldn't be buying any of them..... In my opinion your buying trouble and would be very disappointed in what you get for your 80k.
Id be controversial and buy a properly modded gtr.....in my opinion with the right mods (Litchfield have a very good balance) ....the perfect Uk point to point fast road car...
Adam M that graced this forum for many years, and had a 22b years ago when I had mine has the perfect car in my opinion.....
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/163185-my...eld-stage.html
But yes it certainly doesn't have the same stigma that the Italian cars do..... but trust me too.... unless you are a real poser, you will get sick of the way people treat you in these cars. Its amazing how differently people treat you depending on which super car your in.
Just my opinion though and happy to be proved wrong if you buy FUD ! I have changed my opinions big time since I joined the club and have been in it now for 4 years. Driven every new super car that came out in that time. The club always has their orders in early and always manage to get their hands on the first few cars of every new car thats launched......

Aston V8 vantage or DB9 can be had for 30k and I am seriously tempted. I am not sure I could really hand over a cheque for 30 k for a car but on the other hand if I don't do it now when will I ? There is a bucket list element to owning cars like this and if a super car club membership can be had for 10k then that has to be the best way to go.

Another option is the 997 GT2, or a 996 GT3 RS.
Just a suggestion.
Out of the Lambo and the Ferrari it would have to be the Ferrari for me.
Good colour combo although crema or nero is the "accepted" interior but I like tan and would only ever have an F car with tan.
I would also suggest the F355 is perhaps a better option. £50k on a really nice one and its going to be worth keeping..

I drove both on a Track Day. Lambo felt Alittle more Heavy in the Twisties. The Prancing Horse for me I'm Affraid... Just felt quicker, and that Exhaust note when you floor it was the best sound I've heard in a long time.
Also drove a DB9, now that was nice. Had the most weight of all the cars I drove that day! The DB9 for every day use, F430 for weekends and the Lambo.... Maybe be buy it then sell it shortly afterwards just to say you've owned one.
Saying that mates wives dad won £1.2Mill on the lottery the other year. Talking to my mate over Xmas he said her dad has sold the Lambo made £40K and ordered one called an Eventador or something like that Costing £240K, limited edition. Dealer said there's only 5 coming in the UK so keep it like his last one and he should get easy £80K-£100K profit!
Some people have all the luck

FUD let's be honest here, which ever you buy you will sit in and think about the other as they are both lovely cars. I drove the lambo on a tester day and it sounded epic and felt very special but you will fget that from the fezza too. Also I'm 6.1 and now 14.6stone and felt it very cramped sat in the drivers seat (had a crash helmet ln) and I kept hitting the roof and had to crunch down if that makes sense. Now I know you won't have the helmet on but you're taller than me so it may not be very comfortable in the lambo, can't comment on the fezza
End of the day you will in true FUD style have both as your always going to wonder about other makes hence why you have had so many cars. The question is not
Which would you have?
It should be.........
Which one should you have first ;-)
Drive one enjoy it, do the FUD thing keep it 3-6 months rack some miles up sell it on and buy the other, do the same with that one then get a merchant etc etc
Oh and you lucky lucky man lol,

Ive had the pleasure of driving both the 430 and the lambo.
Ferrari was by far the superior even though I was desperate for the lambo to be the better car, it just wasn't.
If it was my money id go with an aston or a maserati gt and have a few quid left over.

Would like your'e experienced advice on these two cars.
They are going to be for special occasions and summer use only.
Don't want to loose to much money so this is also important.

I think having read the massive 50 page thread i'd be sorely tempted by the GTR it's probably the best bang for buck supercar, but for me i would have to have the GT3 RS for a least a year just because of what it is and you will probably get most of your money back come sale time, the gtr is just a nissan, which you can pick up for 30k these days and you can have one anytime you like and you will lose more on it.
